I thought I'd put this here as it has limited interest.
You might remember my old plant of 25yrs plus on the house wall that flowered itself to death in 2018, well the seedlings from it are doing well and one is showing its first flower bud this year.
The heat has made them grow like crazy this year and 2ft plus of new growth on all stems seems normal.

I am SO jealous ... never could get it going. :love30: I am sure the heat has helped. I remember first seeing it in Spain on a holiday with our friend in 2007.
:ideaIPB: Actually, must write Stu as he is how I got Izzy my car and got me into Exotics (he owned a GC back then) and was the guy who cut our Jacarandas, Oleander and Almond back.

None, its pretty hardy but needs a hot spot to do well in summer.
Its growing where the old one was right against the south west facing wall of the house in the rain shadow of the eves.
I've not watered it at all and it still grows.

If this is climate change I can see me getting one and more of the others that love the hotness to thrive !!!!!!

Well I don't tend to think of climate change, it's best to look around your garden and find the different climates that are already there.
It's surprising how some things work in certain places.
I've not tried recently but this plant never thrived when i planted it out in the open garden, but put it up against a hot wall and it does well.

Impressive growth on those seedlings @pete ! I managed to kill the ones I grew from the seed you sent me, but I think I'll try again - the foliage is lovely even if they don't flower.

Due to a change of plan re. colour scheme, my original seed-raised one got hoiked out. Like yours, though, pete, the baby replacements have done really well this year. No flower-buds, yet, though.

For some reason I struggle with them in pots, I have a few potted ones but they are struggling and grow nothing like the rate they do when planted out.
Whether it is over watering or over feeding I'm not sure.

Mine, from your seed, are struggling in their pots @pete only putting on barely a foot of growth and that is in the last couple of weeks.

As I say, I dont think they like pots.
Just find the hotest, dryest spot you can and plant them out and probably no feeding either.

As of today, first of the new flowers, a longer summer would mean flowers into October as buds are now on the ends of pretty much every stem.
The vigour of these two plants has been amazing this year, really I I should have only planted one as the space isn't really big enough. 20220826_111143.jpg
