It is another nice fresh start to the day.

We had a surprise yesterday as Ivo the Builder called and said he would be stopping by in the afternoon. He was amazed at the work J has done and said he would hire him! We had the shock with the bill ... we had 8,000 ready and he said it was 3,000 (2,000 for materials and 1,000 for 4 days labour)!!! J gave him 3,500 and we still think it was too cheap.

Not a lot on the cards today, pottering around.

Good morning everyone. It's very hot already and I'm getting a bit fed up with it now, the intense heat is making my arthritis worse.

That sounds good to me @Victoria

The builders removed the 'strongboys' from the wall yesterday. The cement has hardened and the upstairs is still where it's supposed to be so all is well :dbgrtmb:
The wall under the steel beams is ready for demolition now but they want to put the roof on the new build first, so that when the wall comes down the inside of the house won't be exposed to the elements. They won't finish it today though.

Bella cat has disappeared into one of her dens under some shrubs, She'll probably be there all day :cat-kittyandsmiley:
Keep as cool as you can

Conversion Euro to Pounds ... (no Lori, I won't do it to Dollars ) All numbers rounded off so will be slightly off.
We put by 8,000 Euros = 6,800 Pounds
          Total Bill 3,000 Euros = 2,500 Pounds
          Materials 2,000 Euros = 1,700 Pounds
          Labour 1,000 Euros = 850 Pounds
          We Paid 3,500 Euros = 3,000 Pounds

We are sure he quoted 7,000+ Euros / 6,000+ Pounds but he lost his notebook so sat with bills and calculated. The windows were separate, paid directly, and were 850 Euros / 720 Pounds.

A super bargain for what was done.

Good morning Michael. I can empathise with having lack of energy in extremely hot weather. Fortunately I don't have Arthritis but do have Osteoporosis. Just keep as cool as possible.

It seems like your building works are progressing and I know you are eager for it to be done and you can potter in your beautiful garden. And I know Bella will appreciate it all ... does she keep away from the builders?

Bella is not afraid of the builders @Victoria, she looks at them in disgust. They say things like "She's giving me that cat stare again" :heehee:

Aww bless her! That's cats for you, they don't hold back in letting their feelings be known.:heehee:

My sister's cat gets a bit miffed if I use the Alexa to video call her ( we also use WhatsApp...she can't respond to that.:blue thumb:) My sister has her device set up on her kitchen table ...so we can sit, chat and make coffee.;). Her cat always jumps up and stands right in front of the screen with her rear end facing me!!! Eventually she just plonks herself down in front of the screen and falls asleep... she's a true diva...gorgeous and boy on boy doesn't she know it!!:cat-kittyandsmiley::roflol:

                  Good day
Your heat wave over there sounds like what finally finished here. Up until Tuesday morning, it was really hot during the day and not very cool at night. And I agree, I do love summer but a long run of unrelenting high heat is very tiring! It is 60f 14c this morning so once again we've had the luxury of a total refresh overnight and it will probably only go up to the high 70's or low 80's.

@Victoria wow. 1/2 price pretty much. That is wonderful and also nice to hear that your other half's skills have been admired by a pro!

I did get the spots on one side of the driveway cleaned up. Took three tries of soap, scrubbing with lots of elbow grease, then rinse. Oh, and @Flumpy I didn't answer your question about the size of the drive. It is just over a 1000 square feet. The house is on a "premium" lot because it is set back a little further which makes the back yard shorter but provides lots of parking. Luckily the stains were only on a very small portion of that. There are some spots on the other side to get rid of and then I can pull out the power washer and do the whole pad.

I now have three granddaughters here. :) Luckily they are not picky eaters so I can make them waffles with maple syrup for breakfast and juice to wash those down and then lunch is either hamburgers or hot dogs. I'll probably air fry some potato chips too.

                  Cheers :coffee:

Yes, that was what we had put by but we only paid £3.000 plus £720 for the windows. We figure with all the outside work, tiled brick wall, trellises in The Courtyard, plus the air conditioning/heating unit we will come all in for around £5,000.

                    How are you today Flumpy?

                              Morning @Flumpy
Thanks ,yes I slept well. Went up at just before 1am , quite cool upstairs as we keep
every single window open including those in the rooms currently not used. Our bedroom get full on sun in the morning, but we just get up then. We pull the blinds down during the daytime , helps a lot in keeping inside cool.

We have overhead fans too but so far haven't needed to put them on.

Have a lovely morning with your parents...treasure them, there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of and miss my Mum & Dad. I say good morning and good night to their photos every day as I do our boys too. :wub2:
