          We have precipitation

Looks like a big thunder storm moving up just to the west, not sure how much I'll catch of that.

Dry for most of the night but the rain started before first light and continues to pour down. We are having problems with one of the rear gutters overflowing despite regular cleaning.
The temperature is currently 14°C and the central heating has fired itself up.

We had 15 minutes of light rain, about 1mm in my gauge. It's stopped now and the sun is trying to break through.

On the roads there is a strange phenomenon, lots of white suds like soap running off the tarmac, maybe caused by tree sap and the first rain for 2 months?

Had a heavier burst but now its just miserable.
I'm getting fed up with sitting indoors already.

@JWK I've notice those suds on the roads in previous years after a long dry spell, not sure what causes it, but I'm sure it has a name.

Google suggests it's caused by oil coming to the road surface in hot weather, should be called petrolchor ?

Sun has dried up the patio and paths, I collected 2 inches in the water at from gutters on half the house.

21c now with more showers on the way.

No that's the name for the smell? not the suds, I always remember being told, when learning to drive, go more careful on a wet road in summer rather than winter, because the summer one will have more oil on it.
Of course that was back when most cars had oil leaks.
