    Hi,

Isn't it amazing @shiney how rapidly grass recovers from just about anything whereas expensive plants simply die.

Thanks John. My wife and I had the pleasure of replacing the entire bungalow roof together with the roof over the rear double extension after we first moved here into our dream bungalow; two ceilings suffered water damage after a huge downpour just six weeks after moving in; the insurance loss adjusters told us to get lost it was poor maintenance; we lived with buckets and bowls for 18 months unable to raise another penny; we worked all the overtime we could whilst saving for materials; spring bank I took an extra week off work as holiday and we did the job in two weeks; never again and never trust another insurance company. 34 years on we must have done a top class job. Good luck with your Velux window sealing; roof leaks of any kind are a worry and unfortunately seldom occur in good weather.

I've really enjoyed getting into the studio this morning spending at least two hours with violin practice; fingers crossed I'm at last on top of all the big jobs.

The overnight rain has already dried and it's not been a bad norning.

    Kind Regards, Colin.

I don't think the area I'm talking about will recover. :dunno: There is no 'apparent' dead grass there. There is not the slightest sign of vegetation. It is an ex-lawn!

Very warm and muggy but has been quite pleasant for working in the garden.
Now it's become extremely dark and
somewhat eerie out here and the rain has begun to fall.....I wonder how long for .

24 hours after 4 mm of rain the grass is trying to make a comeback. You can just make out new green shoots. 20220817_140028.jpg

I'm not expecting this bit to come back because Ive walked across it a lot during the dry weather.

Dry overnight and after a cloudy start the sun finally broke through. Breezy and a lot cooler than of late.

We had 10 ladies coming to our garden at 2.30 so, as it was nice and sunny I put cushions on all the benches and seats, As they drove in there was a loud clap of thunder and the heavens opened. They all rushed to the summerhouse and settled in for their tea and cakes. At 3.10 the sun was out again but still a lot of rumbling in the sky.

15 minutes ago, whilst showing them around the garden there was a monstrous thunderclap and the monsoon started. An empty rain barrel filled up in under 10 minutes! Although the ground is very hard the rain will soak in as the garden is flat.

Our promised afternoon of heavy downpours and potential flooding never happened. We've been sat out with a friend on our patio and it's been very nice here.
Our furry friend came too and enjoyed the cooler temps.:doggieshmooze: 20220817_154101.jpg

About an hour ago the cat came indoors and hid under the table, they have a sixth sense as a tremendous thunderstorm suddenly arrived, with hail and heavy rain for 10 minutes. I can't recall such a heavy deluge here, it was running like a stream on the street. My rain gauge says 25mm (about an inch), it should do a lot of good although some plants are flattened, the sarracenia have toppled over but all will hopefully recover. We had a bit of light rain since.

The second monsoon only lasted 11 minutes but the garden loved it. I've walked round the garden and can hear all the plants singing. :)
