Pubs, bingo halls etc etc were allowed to reopen on the 4th July, then indoor gyms and pools could reopen from the 25th July. Only 3 weeks, I would not say bingo halls were allowed to reopen long before gyms. The younger generation would of probably just went out and got on with life in numbers, where as the older generation would of been far more dubious going to the local bingo hall in droves. Even though most of these places were allowed to reopen, it was a more phasing reopening that was adopted, especially with bingo halls opting for this approach.

Yep. Test the reopening out on the oldies first, allow a few weeks for the new data to come through, before letting the working age people out.

Although I agree with a lot of what you said I'm still not sure how that equates to the original comment about 'get rid of poor people' (everyone - please don't take that comment out of context and it meaning lining up poor people against a brick wall. Clueless definitely didn't mean it in that way.).

To get rid of poor people (hopefully in a way that increases their income) so that the average national wage goes up is only changing the wage/income without changing the comparison between the lower and upper levels. The expenses are likely to go up comparatively. :noidea:

I always get fed up with government ministers going on tv and spouting about putting up the minimum wage, all that does is push struggling businesses over the edge and it's no skin off the government's nose as it just raises more income tax for them to throw at some pointless scheme.

Darn tootin! I figure if I can't keep fit without the use of a gym, there is something wrong with my daily routine.

The XBX exercise program requires not equipment and was THE physical fitness go-to for the Air Forces - both Canadian and British. :)

I think if the government thought there was any way they could get away with 'lining up poor people against a brick wall' they would, but that would lose them a lot of votes.

Yes, getting rid of poor people would just mean the new lower boundary would be slightly higher, but it would also mean more tax income and less expenditure. This is how Tories think. It is all about money. There is zero compassion or empathy and an abundance of 'im alright Jack '.

EDIT: I don't want to create tension by turning this into a political debate, so perhaps we should move on.

We could always import more poor people, which has been the plan for the last 50yrs.
Brexit and covid put a stop to a lot of that, and its causing problems.

Poor people actually keep the country running, it is because a lot of our kids are educated beyond their intelligence that we need to import poor people to do the jobs that they wont do.

Its not poor people who are the problem its old people,
I joke, but there is an imbalance between those putting money in and those taking money out, mainly because they never invest your payments in your name, over your working life, they just spend it.

I must admit I had to Google the XBX program. It looks good.

I agree with you by the way, that you don't need any equipment to keep fit. Personally I hate the gym. I joined one once for a few months. I'd broken myself through training too hard in my hobby of martial arts. No combat injuries, just excessive wear and tear that all caught up with me. In parallel to the NHS doing their best with various scans and physio, I decided to join a gym. On my induction day, I told the instructor I had no interest in the gym, and was only there to speed up my injury rehabilitation.

Several times per week, I went and did the exercises that the instructor recommended to rebuild myself I hated going, but the thing I hated more was the idea of being decrepit for a long time, possibly forever, and not being able to engage in my hobby of play fighting (that's what martial arts really is). So I stuck at it.

I remember seeing roid heads drooling over the young women on the treadmills, and admiring themselves in the mirror, and looking at me with a smirk on their face as I bench pressed 20kg to their 200 plus. But I could cope with that, just. Towards the end of my time there I remember a conversation going on behind me, as I pedalled some stationary fake bike thing. One lad said he missed having a kebab. The other lad replied, you can still have a kebab, but replaced the donner meat with grilled chicken, and replace the mayo with lemon juice, and don't have the pita bread. I thought to myself, good gods, I have to get out of here. I was nearly better by then, so cancelled my subscription, and never went again.

I think the government plan is to get everyone to drastically cut down on their energy use as we won't have enough to go around come the depths of winter. It might mitigate some of the blackouts.

So ive replaced all lighting with led 's
Cooker broke so got an induction which broke after 5 years (crappy Bosch) so bought yet another induction.
Spent 6 grand on solar panels, topped up insulation, sealed all known air gaps around doors and windows.

And yet my electric bill has exploded.

Then a muppet mp tells me ive got to reduce my power consumption ?

                Oh really ... HOW ?

We had the same thing with water. Cut down on water usage they said. Then when we did, they said they had to charge more per unit because the filtration plant was under underutilized :rolleyespink:

Now a new conundrum. I am doing the patience game with trying to collect thunbergia seeds.

But now, how to pronounce? Thun berg ee ah.. or Toon burg eeah as in Greta.. :heehee:

They showed a gas depot, on TV the other night.
They said it was full, I'm guessing that they are speculating and buying it now before the next price rises comes into effect, they will then sell it to the energy companies at stupid prices.
