After some good rains it was time to cut the grass- probably the third time this year. What an odd summer we have had!

Then it was time to have straight talk with Mr Blackbird. Someone took my new bug hotel apart, Mr B thinks it might have been the Starlings and the Starlings hint at sparrows but are always willing to discuss any topic.

I have a brilliant plan to give the Degus a full head of sunflower seeds for Christmas but birds have slightly different plans.

(Note the latest trend on gardening clothes)

Now I will just have to monitor the situation to ensure birds don't get inside the wire hoods and get trapped. So far so good, apart from gazillion of tiny cuts on my hands that sting like mad. :gaah:

Today I will continue tidying up and deadheading, or do nothing. :)

I turned over my compost this morning and that was it. Had planned on doing more but the rain put a stop to it.

I found a few troughs so I filled them with gritty compost and I'm looking for some small cacti to plant in them, a sort of cactus garden
I'll make succulent gardens in some of them as well.

I just made sure everything got a drink and then went back to setting in my umbrella dryer tube. It is very humid and 85f so slugging away with a sledge wasn't all that much fun. But I did want to get this done so that I can plant the perennials around the base and call that area of the garden, officially finished! So far I planted in gladiola bulbs and I'm getting ready to add some hardy geraniums. I also picked up a marked down pot of gallairdia and need to get that in the ground too. So far, other than my annual garden area, I seem to be choosing sites for new plants by the fact that the spot is empty. Zero coordination

I haven't done anything other than a little watering. I had intended to repot 3 Dragon tree cuttings that I took some months ago & which are crying out for new homes! One is already trying to climb out of its pot & others have roots coming out of the drainage holes!

If i don't get a move on one of them will run away as it's already starting to push itself out of its pot! :hapfeet::rolleyespink:

Mowed the lawn today not much else did notice I have a infestation of whitefly's on a tomato plant I've never had problems with whitefly's until this year .

Did a bit more yesterday , chucked a few malvia in the compost heap, emptied any pots that seeds have failed to germinate and used the compost for potting up some centranthus seedlings , went a bit OTT with the centranthus seedling had to stop at 51 I don't even want them for myself just to give away. Also pricked out some trailing pansy / viola seedling I am trialing this winter .

Cactus and succulent gardens I made, finished them off today ...
The plants are small at the moment but they'll grow
I don't know where I'm going to put them :heehee:

Changed the compost in 4 pots of daffodils and they're starting to sprout roots, hope to do the other 3 soon, watered the polyanthus and hanging baskets.
