I doubt she will reign long, unless she does miracles in the first year I don't see her reaching the next general election.

There's a theory that the Tories want to call an election as soon as possible, get booted out, let Labour struggle to try and sort out the mess and then get back in with a good majority because Labour will make an even worse mess of it.

It was a lose-lose contest though wasn't it. The whole party needs flushing and some politicians that actually want to help people and the country and are able to work collaboratively internationally to be given the mantel. If such a thing exists, which I doubt.
I'm expecting to limp and lurch through to the next election, Labour to win , a further 5 years of hellish performance and then maybe there will be a contender to vote for but only if the old guard are shoved out. Some hope.

I have a new latest moan. Or multiple moans. All on the topic of buying things online.

Literally a week ago I received an order of some seeds. Today I get an email asking me to leave a review, for seeds, which I received a week ago. What can I say? They arrived in a timely fashion, they were seeds, and as far as I know, they were what I ordered. Whoopie do, I received the thing I paid for. I can't say if they're any good. They might all be dud for all I know, it's been a week. Even though I sowed them immediately they haven't had time to germinate yet, never mind grow enough for me to tell if they're what I ordered.

And why, if I put something in my basket, then don't complete the order, why should I get an email reminding me it's there? If I didn't complete the order, it's unlikely because I simply forgot I wanted the thing I searched for, found, logged in, and added to the basket. It's most likely because I've had second thoughts for any number of reasons.

And if I've previously been a regular customer and then stopped, it's unlikely to be because I've suddenly forgotten after several years of regular business that they exist. It's more likely that either I no longer need what they sell, or I've found a better supplier. So why spam me forever.

I actually don't really mind. I just ignore it, but was just going for a lightheaded rant.

I never bother to give a review for any product but only for services. Even then I only review if it was good or bad and never if it was in between.

I think that's what most people do. When I read reviews for anything, I have a quick scan of the high scoring reviews just to see if people are happy with it for the same reasons I'm looking for, but then I focus on the low scores to get a feel for how often, and how badly things have gone wrong. I'm more interested in the negative reviews than the positive, not because I'm a miserable got looking for problems, but because sometimes a real issue stands out, but often people are upset because they'd set themselves unrealistically high expectations. As an example of that, the last time we went away for a cottage break, there were loads of bad reviews for the place, which was cottages and a pub and hotel together. Almost all of the negative reviews were from people who'd waited more than half an hour for their food, at peak times, in the only bar/restaurant in the village, so we went anyway and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wow. That's shocking. I only leave a negative review if I can back it up with evidence, and I'm always objective and stick to the facts. I never leave a subjective opinion of speculation in a review. Not because of fear of being sued, but in the interest of fairness.

Maybe I will never leave a review again. In the UK we're not as litigious as in the US, and it seems Canada, but we seem to be becoming increasingly culturally aligned to the US as time goes on, so maybe it's time to be extra careful. We'll be like China and Russia soon, daren't say anything in case there are consequences.

I assume you did not read the article. Just the headline. The reviewers were found to be malicious and over the top with their complaints. It was not trivial what they did, by any means, however it does raise the old saw about a "slippery slope" when once started... So now I just leave a poor rating if deserved.

And I think there is nothing wrong with leaving a good review for a job well done!

I did read it, I just didn't see anything malicious. There seemed to be a dispute about what colour of wood stain had been ordered, and what was delivered.

If I receive poor goods or services I contact the company and say, "Rather than have me leave a bad review, why not sort it out?". They always do, and often strongly in my favour.

I always contact the supplier (goods or services) but if they ask me to put a review after that then I do so but only if it is good or bad and not if it is mediocre.

I have just ordered some new insoles for my walking shoes. The first company I tried to order from charged me the offer price shown on their website but then charged me 6.95 for postage when they say it is 3.95. I fiddled around with the postage page and eventually got it for 3.95 and then found that they had increased the cost of the insoles instead. This is an automated system. I emptied my cart and then sent them an email of complaint. I'll await for their reply before posting a negative comment on their site.

In the meantime, I have just ordered them from elsewhere and they have charged me the normal price but offered free postage. The free postage more than compensated for the higher price. They will get a good service review if I'm asked.

We discussed on another forum platform about how malicious reviews can get you into hot water. Some of the members backed the reviewer and review site for their actions, with most of us backing the business. The problem was, the western media made him out to be an innocent citizen, yet myself and others had seen the reviews he had made before they were removed. He made his reviews personal, attacking the staff with racial remarks and accusing them of modern day slavery. We also knew about his criminal past as this had already been reported by the Thai media, yet this was never reported by our media.

TripAdvisor warns users over Thai hotel that legally pursued reviewer - BBC News

Yet this was reported by the Thai media 6 weeks earlier.

The man who wrote the bad reviews for Koh Chang's Sea View Resort has a criminal record | Thaiger (thethaiger.com)

What I found most disturbing, how did someone who has already served 5 years in a state prison and has outstanding fire arm charges managed to get to Thailand and get a job teaching children.
