No, they kept up a relentless campaign to blacken the company's reputation. It was not a simple one time complaint.

I only scan read it. Reading long articles on a phone is a nightmare at times, especially when the article is peppered with adverts.

This should go on the cost of living thread but it will get lost there as that's about boilers now.

Please folks, look closely at your energy deal. My energy provider wants me to pay more than triple what my last tariff was.

The thing is, they don't bargain on people like me, that analyse everything.

My account is intentionally in credit. I know a price hike was coming so I increased my direct debit to build up a buffer.

In calculating my new 'recommended' monthly direct debit, they've simply taken my usage over the last 12 months, worked out what the same use will cost over the next 12 months, then divided by 12. Sounds right so far?

They have NOT factored in the credit I've built up, or the 400 quid that every household is getting.

When I factor these in, it knocks 84 quid per month off what I should be paying.

In addition to this, I keep cutting my energy use. It's fair enough that my provider don't take that bit into account, as they have no way of knowing my plans in that regard. But it does mean that each month I will be recalculating the amount I think I should be paying.

I have a suspicion that the 'bug' in their calculation, not taking into account my credit or the government help, is not a pure oversight when coding the calculation. I suspect they are relying on consistently good players to boost their liquidity. I can understand them trying to boost their liquidity, but not at my expense.

A few emails between us has solved the problem. Apparently when I went into their website it seemed to think I was in Switzerland (not sure whether my yodelling affected that! :heehee:) so had priced it in Swiss currency. That also accounted for the higher postage charge. I've no idea how that happened and I think they will be looking into it.

What gives most Ladies, not all God's given right to ask people to move off a seat in town so they can sit down.
I have a painful back and need if possible to sit down more often.
Would I ask someone to move so I could sit down, no.

Probably late 60's Pete. I would always give up my seat for someone who's pregnant. It's the rudeness of some, no please or thank you.

Is there some reason that the queen cant use a wheelchair, would it be a sign of weakness.

I just dont get this flying two separate planes up to Scotland to see the Queen.

I've got no problem with the queen being frail, its expected but they just keep making excuses for her, just get her a wheel chair and she could get around, just get some poor sod to push it.

When I visited over there in '18, I was on a train going to Reading and some young lads (about 16-18) offered me their seat.

I shocked them by saying, "you boys are so polite and I thank you for the offer but I am built like a tough old donkey and have been sitting about too much lately, so I shall decline". They laughed, I laughed. A pleasant experience.

Edit: forgot to add a moan - I guess I look my age and hence the offer :heehee:

Not necessarily a sign of weakness Pete but a sign of stubbornness. Quite a few of the older population are too proud to admit they need assistance.

                      Or another take.

I'm not that old, but I do have experience of being physically broken and unable to do the stuff we usually take for granted. It's not a nice experience and speaking only for myself, there is a sense that as soon as you give in to it, that's it forever. So you do your best and soldier on.

They could have at least shared a plane.
I don't think she should have interrupted her summer holiday to pander to the whims of the Tory party; they will probably go through the same palaver again in the next 18 months.

Why can't we elect the prime minister, instead of some small number of Tory party members.

Technically they elect their party leader :noidea:. Traditionally the party leader becomes the prime minister as it is the party that is in power and not the individual. :dunno:

All we vote for is a local MP.
