Hi there. Found this forum when searching for some advice on September plantings and was impressed....... so I thought I'd join you.

From the west of Scotland where we face challenges of heavy soil, wet weather and occasional harsh winters (....although not as often as we did).

Been gardening most of my life but still don't seem to know much! In the past I have enjoyed having a sizeable allotment plus my garden but now it is just the garden. In recent years I have returned to growing from seeds and changing a ot in the garden. I have also recently cleared an area of ground previously filled with shrubs to allow me to grow veggies once more next year.

Looking forward to meeting/talking to some of you.

Welcome from the East Coast. Definitely drier here. When I lived in Gourock a day without some rain was a delight.

Welcome to Gardeners Corner erskine. :) I'm a little further west from the east coast and this summer's drought is now coming to an end.

Beautiful part of the country you come from, Sheal. But it must bring its challenges too.

Yep, it used to be that way, Jocko. But now the seasons seem totally changed. But your part of the world is still probably a bit gentler than ours. And your soil may not be full of clay! :)

I could build a brickworks here.

Thank you and yes, it is a lovely area. :) I think Jocko and I need to do a partial soil swap - I have sandy loam.
