Whats Looking Good September 2022

Other than the self-sown white Petunias, there is little flowering on the balcony now. The Fuchsias however have recovered well from the hot weather which almost killed them off. In fact several young plants actually did die of sunstroke! (You might think that being on a balcony it would be easy enough to avoid that happening but if you saw the 100s of plants on the balcony & the difficulty in reaching some of them then you might understand how that sort of thing can easily happen!).

I have had red double Geraniums flowering all summer on the top rail of the balcony but some of them were very poorly & so I removed them from their rings & put some Fuchsias in their place. These are growing very well & flowering very well, too.

I was going to add pictures of the Fuchsias on the balcony railings but they are on my desktop PC while I'm using my laptop now & don't have access to them!

 

It's mostly the well-watered stuff on the terrace that's looking good now

Not spectacular, but Cestrum nocturnum packs a punch for scent!

The bougies just keep on going....

 

Hi Sienna, no it's not a new puppy it's barley when he was at the breeder and we were picking him up, he liked to get under the vet bedding. He was and still is a very intelligent character, but thanks. I'd love to have a new puppy but they're so expensive now.

They are beautiful flowers @erskine . We use to have them here too then for some reason they stopped blooming sadly after a few years.

You still have lots of colour Upsy. I'll have a pear please. It is mostly green here except for a few things that 'carry on' like the Pandorea vine and Tecoma (Ginger Thomas) which can flower most of the year, but I noticed the Honeysuckle has buds! We shall have some things blooming soon now that our heat is going away and we are getting rain.

 

The border under the kitchen window has come back to life and flowers that went away in the drought are back again .

The Geraniums are still going strong on the balcony even though I've had to remove a couple of the red ones from the top of the railings.

These plants are actually the ones that spent all summer in the 3 troughs on the middle bar of the balcony railings. I've since planted winter flowering Pansies in their place.

Today I took a few cuttings of my Geraniums to overwinter.

I used one of the empty Pansy trays to put the little pots in. These will spend the winter & most of the spring next year in the kitchen window & then I will put them in bigger pots & use them on the balcony next summer.

and it is very touching how he waited for his owners to return.

 

My Amaryllis Belladonna Lily is making its annual appearance through the Melaleuca ...
