What's looking Exotic in 2022

Impressive. I planted some seeds over the weekend. The Stephanotis is lovely too.

My first Hibiscus flower.

The Calliandra surinamensis is in full flower now but doesn't last long.

 

Yellow Bougainvillea, changes to pink and then white.


Not exotic really, Tradescantia/Rhoeo spathacea.


Calathea Roseopicta, bought over a year ago in a thumb pot, hasn't grown much but still look good.

 

I don't think they are classified as exotic any more, but our two Yukkas on the lane have pups ...




... they are not in pots, just broken tops for effect!

 

Excuse the jumble, but the one I planted out of Y. Elephantipies had the top growth killed by frost.
So mine is all pups.

 

Just noticed the Callisia fragrans in The Jungle Room has rooted one of its bables in the ground below ...

They are lovely, sadly lost mine years ago,

 

Alstroemeria isabella "Fred Meyer" took a year off last year but it saw fit to bloom this year after a repot. Sadly it was during the warm dry spell, just the conditions that seem to bleach the colour out of the flowers...........

I allow for the fact that they will croak over the winter in the UK but at £1.99 from Lidl it's no great shakes. Sometimes they surprise me though and make through. Hopefully this one will as it has grown exceptionally well.

 

Now that is rather unique and delicate.

After all these years, I am still learning what can cope with the constant heat!

 

Remind me of the climate and seasonal variations.
