I had a wooden shed that had become rotten so I decided to get rid of it, and instead of having another shed which would only fill up with junk I decided to have a greenhouse for my cacti and succulents (at the moment they have to live in three cold frames and a perspex shelter at the side of the garage)

Shed demolished, floor being filled in, and walls being built
(The back wall was already there behind the shed, it is very rough and ready) :-

    Nice new concrete floor,
and back wall made higher, to roof level, including extra support from a pillar :-

    Inspection going well :cat-kittyandsmiley::dbgrtmb: ...

Framework in place for roof (polycarbonate sheet arriving next week) :-

The builder showed me how to paint a very liquid mix of cement on the walls, to fill in the holes in the concrete blocks ...

    Before :-

    After :-

It will now be easier to paint the wall because the surface is flatter :dbgrtmb:

The windows and door are on order and will be here soon, so I hope it will be completed before the clocks go back and my plants can be in their new for-ever home before the winter

A couple of coats of Santex Smooth will give a good long lasting finish to your rendering, inside and out. Strangely, Homebase seem to have the best range of colours, if you have one local.

                    .
Bella has many of those in various places @Victoria  and she'll probably go in there when the door is open.

Thanks for the information @ricky101. We used to have a few Homebase stores not too far away but unfortunately they have all closed down. I'll have to try somewhere else.

:heehee: That's the big question, but somehow I don't think I'll have much trouble filling them @Upsydaisy :heehee:

The roof is on my greenhouse, it's one big sheet of polycarbonate ...

                      shit !!!!! (2).JPG

                      127_2167.JPG

I've put the shelves from the old shed in there for now, they were strewn around the garden and getting all muddy ...

                      shit !!!!!.JPG

                      shit !!!!! (3).JPG

That bit of brick wall over there (wall of old outside loo) will be rendered, and the windows and door will be here in a few weeks.
Then I can put my cacti in

It's very big, great for more cacti. Are you getting more or rehoming existing?

Coming along nicely :) I'd leave the brickwork as it adds a bit more character but personal choice.

                                Thanks @Upsydaisy

@JWK I will rehome my cacti and most succulents but I'm always on the look-out for more  The greenhouse will be bursting at the seams :dbgrtmb:

@Loofah the mortar between the bricks is old and keeps crumbling. It will all come away eventually so the best thing will be to cover them. I agree they add character but the builder said that was the best option.

@pete the polycarbonate was 6 ft wide and 12 ft long. The greenhouse is 9 ft long so 3 ft had to be cut away. It's good to have the roof in one piece, it's easier to put up and there are no joins which could leak.
