I've had the latest bill from my energy supplier and they've taken off some cash as part of this rebate.
Can't see anything else I can do apart from brace myself!

Not got my rebate yet but it must be my lucky day. I checked my Octopus account and when you submit meter readings you get a free spin on the wheel of fortune. I won £1 !

Do we all send meter readings in on the 30th of September?
Just wondering as i sent my usual monthly reading in last week.

But surely, in theory the rise doesn't take place until 1st October.

Has anyone had letters/e-mail saying about how much the price rise is going to be, we haven't had any notice yet so i'm thinking there may not be a rise

Yes. Definitely do that. Otherwise they'll 'estimate' the proportion between old price and new, and we have no way to be sure they'll 'estimate' in your favour or theirs.

Well not in the great scheme of things, but it's over a week of energy at a cheaper price.
I'm going to try but I'm guessing that the website will crash.

Yes Octopus sent an email a few days ago, the prices rises are the same as the announced October CAP for the kWh rate and a bit below for the daily standing charge.

Just found it, the new rates for me in October will be: electric 34p per kWh and for gas 10p per kWh.

So my electric is going up 17% and gas 33%. Still a hefty price rise.

Not dreadful increase, all things considered. This is really prompting me to save energy, which is a very good thing. I'm a bit of a greenie but funnily enough, good intentions to be more eco friendly only turn into significant action when the impact is directly on my wallet. Embarrassing really.

The rebate is supposed to come in six, monthly, payments. I have been told that Oct and Nov will be £66 and the following four months at £67. If you pay by DD then they say you will get it as a refund into your bank account a few days after they have taken your payment. If you pay otherwise they reduce the bill they send you by that amount.

I got an email this morning telling me we don't need to submit a reading for our electricity as we have a "smart" meter! They get reading several times a day - but they wanted my permission to do HOURLY readings!!! I said no way, a couple of times a day is more than sufficient!

Does anybody watch Martin's Money show on ITV? I, myself, have never seen it but I have had his weekly emails for many years now. One year I remember him saying, just before a price rise, that we should all make a note at least of our last reading before the announced rise took place, which I did. I also took photos of the gas & even the water meters on the same day for several years!! So I built up a great number of photos of the 3 meters over several years. That stopped once we had "smart" meters installed.
