YAWN, YAWN, WAKEY, WAKEY - 2022

Yes, I thought it very striking. I have four other Begonias, a giant Cane B Angel Wings, a silver Rex and two trailing, B boliviensis 'Santa Cruz' and B 'Summerwings' The Cane lives in The Jungle Room, has for 21 years, and the others on the North side window ledge of The Baffa where the new one will live.

 

Good day
It is cloudy and 51f 10c. Not a good day for laundry so that will wait.

I pick up the free wooden stools this morning and also want to give the van a good vacuuming and top up the gas tank. It will cost me about a hundred of your pounds to fill it so I want to do it in advance which will make it so I don't have to stop during tomorrow's journey for more.

There will be myself and 5 of my girlfriends in the van, traveling to a town about 50 miles from here. Just to do lunch and wander around. Then on the way back we'll stop at a place called Picard's. They sell peanuts of every type and flavour plus lots of other goodies including maple syrup candies and jellies.

And this afternoon I hope to get some more sewing done. Yesterday was a total blow out. My big industrial would not stop acting up and I tried several times to fix it with no success so I will pull out one of my old machines and use it just to get me going. I'll revisit repairing the big one another day.

How much does your van hold? How much does fuel cost there? Your trip is c100 miles ... how many miles do you get to the gallon/litre?

I think I remember you going to the delicious peanut place in the past, yum.

My tank is almost on dead empty so that is the reason for the expensive fill up with about 85 liters. I have no idea what mileage I get and don't really care. It holds 7 people total so not a large vehicle because when all the seats are up, there's only room in the back for maybe 3-4 pieces of luggage. It does have a large roof rack too.

Since it is only a day trip, there's just us gals and our purses. And whatever snacks we buy on the way back

After another day of being out and about, we are hoping for a day at home today......

I really would like to get the remaining bulbs planted out, at least that would be one thing I can finally cross off my list, I've been attempting to do this for well over a week now!!

We have a mixed bag of weather on the cards for today so a lot will depend on just how mixed up it proves to be.

Vicky has your beautiful Begonia arrived yet?

It is slightly overcast with a light breeze.

Sadly no Upsy. J got back at just past 11am and it takes 6-7 minutes to get from the PO and to be honest I don't think the Postman had been there yet, t is just tiny upstairs in the Freguesia (Parish) Offices. Hopefully today ... when he goes out food shopping again to a different store!

Fingers crossed you get some bulb planting today.

That's a shame...fingers crossed for today then.

We had rain overnight so it's a damp start here, but could get be a nice day as the sun is out now. So we'll see see if any bulbs get done later.

We have a change of plan...as always!!

We're now going out for lunch as I said I would love a nice roast dinner ( good old comfort food) so as its our Anniversary we thought... might as well !!!

Thanks so much Vicky and Flumpy, we've had a super day doing.....well.....nothing much to be honest. Reminiscing on the years gone by and remembering all those who shared our wedding day with us making it such a wonderful day to remember 43 years on.

Our walk to the restaurant took us past the primary school where our 3 went to, we were lucky to secure them a place there because we lived out of their official catchment area..happy days for them and us. It was lunchtime and to hear the children laughing and playing in the playground was wonderful.

We had our first apparently nippy night last night, down to 4C but it wasn't that noticeably cold.
I must bring the citrus and the avocado plants in today.

Right,I know I've said this every day this week but......I so hope we'll get a day at home today .

We are supposedly due to have rain this afternoon so how much we actually get done outside is debatable.

It is bright and fresh out but I didn't have the best of nights, waking frequently for no particular reason as I slept well when I did.

So pleased you had a good day Upsy. We don't reminisce as there are too many years to remember, 55 next time ... not to say we don't remember things at other times and laugh or smile!

We are off to The River to Clube Nautico to meet Kay and Ian for lunch again before they go back to Aylesbury tomorrow. I will take a cardigan as it could be fresh although protected.

My Begonia arrived yesterday safely and there are two plants in the pot! I will photograph later and put up in What I Bought thread.

My computer is playing up a lot, shutting down suddenly. J had it apart yesterday.

Aw I like to look back and reminisce on special days...it brings all of us back together again for just a fleeting moment in time. I'm not one to dwell on the past but it's like having a photo album locked away in your mind and every so often it's good to dust it off and open it.

I probably couldn't recall all the years...even just 43 !!, but certain events most definitely.
