Hi I’m building a “shed” and want to put a sedum roof on it
And I am trying to put the sedum in trays so I can try and make my own design I need 80sqm (320 trays)
The empty sedum trays seem to be expensive the cheapest in this country I have found is £6.00 + vat a tray and £100 delivery
China will deliver door to door including taxes £5.00 a tray
Does anybody know of cheaper option? thanks Dave

That will be some size shed if you need 80sqm, are your dimensions correct?

    A 40ft shipping container external dimensions are 2.44m x 12.19m = 29.7sqm

Have you considered other construction methods like membranes/blankets. Might be cheaper on such a large area.

I have considered sedum blankets but they seem expensive too, but then I couldn’t plant the sedum I want :noidea:

I considered a green roof for my extension, about 12 years ago, and it was the price that stopped that happening.
You could talk to the sedum blanket supplier about what you want and they may be able to plant to your requirements.
I think either trays or blankets will be expensive even with buying the plants and planting yourself.

Is your 'shed' engineered to take such a load? Walburn Mtray quote saturated weight as 96Kg per sq metre. 80 sq mtrs amounts to a distributed weight total around 9 tonnes, unless it snows....

That's not a shed, that's Taj Mahal! Looks brilliant, and a Sedum roof would make it truly exceptional.

What kind of budget did you have in mind? Blanket systems seem to come to about £3000- £4000 at that size, but probably you will have room to negotiate with such a big purchase.

Looking forward to seeing your project proceeding, this sounds very exiting. :dbgrtmb:
