Covid wave started earlier than expected here

Because my symptoms recently were almost identical to when I had covid right at the start, with the main difference being that I didn't struggle to breathe this time round, but the studies all concluded that Omicron is less likely to cause breathing difficulties than the original. I also had, and still have, symptoms that the studies say are more characteristic of Omicron, most notably that my brain is shot. There are still massive gaping holes in my memory even now, months later.

 

The leaflet I have rambles on about some places where you can have a flu jab at the same time as the covid one.
One in each arm, on the day.

I seem to remember last time you had to be something like a month or more after having a flu jab before you could have the covid one.

Can't say I'm keen on having the two on the same day.
Sounds like, let's just get this done and sod the consequences .

 

Nothing in life is guaranteed, but if having the Vaccine stops you being admitted to Hospital then IMO it's worth it.

Ok, if the Vaccine doesn't stop you being admitted to Hospital then what have you lost, perhaps 10 minutes of you time.

 

3 weeks ago hospitals here were that all people had to wear a mask as cases were on the up, we are now seeing more people wearing masks now when we go shopping, we haven't stop wearing masks or washing etc

 

@wiseowl , last year I had a covid jab at Lordswood and I got a flu jab at Lloyds pharmacy 400hundred yards away.
Might be worth asking local Pharmacies if they are doing it.

@pete we had both jabs in the same arm, I was a tad achy the next day but I soon forgot about it once I started my normal routines.
We hadn't expected to get the flu one they just offered it to us on the day.

@Jiffy , like you we haven't stopped wearing masks either and it's now just part of our routine we each carry a small bottle of hand wash/ gel too.

 

It's definitely worth getting the vaccine. I just don't see the point of getting loads of the same one for a disease that's no longer prevalent. Now Pete has enlightened us that they're now rolling out an Omicron vaccine that's definitely worth having, especially for those that haven't had the disease already.

 

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of the Gulf war sickness?

The troops who went there had all kinds of health problems in later years.
Some put it down to being given lots of vaccinations all at the same time.

I realise they were given more than two and for very different diseases, but it does make me wonder if its better to give the body a chance to get over one vaccination before having another one.

Afterall, I do seem to remember they were not giving both within a certain time frame last year.

Also slightly worrying is what has happened to the AZ vaccine, is it not considered safe anymore?

The NHS has recently been dragged over the coals about the way they mostly killed people with the haemophilia scandal so although I do trust them most of the time I do have concerns about how they go about things especially if its a money saving exercise.

 

My Question is, Why?

It was cheaper and easier to store.
There has to be a reason why its not used here anymore and we are using more expensive ones.

 

I seem to remember reading it was next to useless against Omicron. The other vaccines were not great against Omicron, but we're better.

 

We were told at the time that it could be modified relatively easy to work on new variants.

So the other countries that are still using it are mostly shooting people full of something that doesn't work.

I wouldn't know about that. I'm just an average geezer. I trust the politicians are following the data and acting in the best interest of their people. I can't imagine they'd ever share something of little use just so they could say they were doing something.
