Funny you should say about cyclists. It is obviously not popular here. Our neighbour back behind occasionally goes out to the cafe on a weekend early norning on his bike and the farmer across the lane occasionally goes out on his motorbike. But you rarely see cyclists and when you do (particularly in Silves) they are foreigners. What you do see a lot of are pro cyclists in their lycra gear!

Good morning all, hope you are well ? You look like you’ve all had a busy week.

Upsydaisy, I really miss everything being shut on a Sunday, it was lovely, a time to visit family or friends, that’s how it should be now, I took my mum to Bury centre yesterday, we where walking arm in arm as she not so good on her right foot, there where sooo many people, just walking right at you or bumping into your arms, there’s are lots of horrible people who are always in such a big rush to get nowhere, what’s it all about

Morning Karen. That is why I won't go anywhere near shopping centres/malls.

I hope you have a relaxing day off ... even if it working in the garden.

          Morning Flumpy :)

That's exactly what I miss too ! Sundays were for visiting my grandparents , exploring the New Forest or just walking up to the local fields/ woods for a pork pie picnic.

Often you would see elderly people out in their cars enjoying a Sunday afternoon tootle on very quiet roads.

          Aah those were the days.

Now it seems people seemingly prefer to go into the cities and......window shop ! :yikes: Often dragging along really bored children with a promise of a McDonald's meal as a reward for being good.

Mind you I'm bias anyway as I totally detest shopping of any kind.:roflol:

          Enjoy your day.

            Good day
Sounds like everyone has already had a good social before my toes touched the floor this morning :)

I agree that it was nice when most shops were closed on Sundays. You were forced to stay home or if you did go out, it was to visit or picnic or something else relaxing.

It is grey again today and I have absolutely nothing left to do outside that can't wait for a sunny day.

I don't like window shopping. Well, the kind of window shopping where people actually go into small, independent stores and look through all the merchandise as if they're going to buy something but are really just amusing themselves. It gives these small business owners the impression that maybe they'll sell something today. To me, a cruel thing to do. A couple of my friends in one group do that. Even going so far as to try on shoes and things so I won't go into the shops with them to add to this disgraceful behaviour. I'll wait outside.

I only have the bed linens and whatever other clothing is in the hamper to wash today so I will be having a quiet time this morning with my show and my hair rollers ;)

            Cheers all :coffee:

Oh, I so agree Lori. It is like "House Lookers" at houses for sale. How awful getting the Seller's hopes up. Despicable behaviour!

We have become totally overcast now but it is 24c and slightly muggy so rain is not far.

I had a boiled egg and a piece of toast for lunch, J had a fried egg and cheese sandwich. and I have been looking through my all too full seed box. :rolleyespink: I think J has just gone out and harvested the two Yukka pups ... just in time as drizzle has begun.

Hi all, just got back from Tesco, would of got it done quicker but Tesco’s have moved everything around so frustrating :rolleyespink:

It would be good if they shut everywhere on Sundays then we would save energy too, but I’m sure the government would have some excuse not too, we survived before though. I’ve just washed the bedding and I’m now having a lovely prawn sandwich, feet up and watch a place in the sun :spinning: have a lovely day all :grphg:

                  Good morning. :)

Hope everyone is well and had a rejuvenating weekend.

We've got the insulating frame back in the greenhouse and now just have the front closing section to attach when the temps drop.

So glad that's all done now ,always worry that we may get caught out by a sneaky frost and be totally unprepared....but not anymore!! Phew.:blue thumb:

Did a bit of cutting back of the short Snap Dragons that I grew from seed this year. I also harvested a lot of their seed too. This is the first time I've grown this variety so fingers crossed they will survive the winter and bloom again next year like the other bigger ones do. Hopefully they are short lived perennials and will last a year of two, I also left them to shed their seeds .:fingers crossed:

Acorns are falling non stop now so patio sweeping is a daily top of the list job now as they are lethal if stepped on over the slabs......it's like being on roller skates !!

More winter preparations out in the garden to be done today......mustn't complain as it keeps us on the go and moving I suppose.

Hope that your day is a good one.:blue thumb:

It is slightly overcast so not quite a bright morning. Sun will soon break through.

I slept well but have been awake since 5ish and Van got up and went shouting around the house ... open plan, high ceilings and tiled floors makes things louder!!! He came back to bed and zonked out between us. Munch had got up from being between my calves and came back and settled on my thighs, head draped on knee! :cat-kittyandsmiley::cat-kittyandsmiley:

Think I will start back on the bike today. I have not been doing it whilst I had the nausea feeling. Don't know what J is up to today.

                    Have a good one all.

Thank you Upsy, you too. xx

Yes, J usually has an hour's 'nap' in the afternoon but I have never been able to, even when in hospital under strong medication. I will just relax though. I always do deep breathing when I wake.

Just did one mile / five minutes on the bike. Not much I know but haven't been on it in a few weeks. Always get on from my right leg up and over ... didn't make it first time but got off first time. Gently, gently does it.

                            Good day
It is chilly and cloudy and the guessers say this weather system is going to swirl round us until late Thursday.

@Upsydaisy pictures of your insulating frame please... :) I'm always a curious person and looking for new ideas and projects.

@Victoria I too usually lay in bed for a short while after waking. I call it my "playing dead" stage. Awake but not ready to jump out of my nice warm bed just yet!

@Flumpy I swear they move things around just so you'll be forced to go down aisles with with things you normally skirt around.

I'm going to get out my foam cutter and start a new job. The lady brought her fabric by on Friday and since I still haven't got the lining to finish my other job, this will make a nice fill in job. I've got my eye on a leaf blower so this will give me the money for that. I want one to blow out the greenhouses and things like that.

                            Cheers all :coffee:

Hi Lori, it's the same as each year but the frame has been adjusted a bit and fresh bubble wrap has been attached. We've yet to add the front secton as it's relatively mild still. As the temps dip during the winter we add sheets of polystyrene and layers of fleece accordingly.

The big cold frame has been used for dumping flower pots and other bits and bobs so is in desperate need of reorganising. Being against the wall of the house it's brilliant for overwintering plants without adding additional fleece.

The front closure rolls up and and is still in good order, so no major work is required for this winter...apart from making room on the shelves for the plants.
