I had some plants delivered the other day . 2x Amsonia Ernest pagels ( bought from Barnes nurseries ) I've not grown Amsonia before I am looking forward to pairing them with Salvia Carrodonna / Geum Totally tangerine , they also have attractive yellow autumn foliage some I am planting my symphotrichium ( aster to me ) Andenken I bought last year but never planted that will give me an autumn zing .

Ordered 5x Salvia Verticilliata alba in 9cm instead of 2L to save some money but a Hydrangea aspera hot chocolate come out of nowhere and added up in my basket :noidea: any money saved now gone. The salvia are to replace some other salvia Verticilliata smouldering torchers it colour wasn't expected so it faded in with another salvia amethyst . Anyway after placing my order I got a phone call all 9cm pots have sold out but we've got them in 2L , I've already committed and made plans so be it 2L plants it is at an extra cost . And 2 penstemon plum jerkum I got all these from farmyard nurseries

Ordered my bulbs from parker wholesale don't know when they arrive, farmer Gracy keep spamming me with bulb offers they most think I am to weak to refuse there offers

Bought recently in B&M bargain shop, Calathea musaica 'Network'
It is so named because of the pattern on the leaves.

Also over the week end I bought a Skimmia 'Magic Marlot', it has variegated leaves,
and a Gaultheria to plant in a winter interest pot.

While I was in town doing some shopping this morning I went into Wilco's to see if they have any compost & 6" pots. Didn't find either! :frown: But what I DID find was 100s of packets of bulbs reduced 50%! :) So I bought some packets of Crocuses! :)

I haven't bought any for a couple of years because I find they are too expensive but I couldn't resist getting these! :)

And where will you plant all of those pray tell? Can you plant them in the grass against the fence or would you not be allowed?

T'other Half has mistakenly taken an afternoon snooze and left me to my own devices. :yikes: I have ordered the following from Italy (from the supplier I got the beautiful Nandina from last year) ..

I still have a few pots that I can put them in - my main problem is getting hold of a bag of compost! The shops downtown don't have any at all & I've checked 2 weeks in a row.

If I try & plant anything outside the balcony the council gardeners will just cut them down when they trim the edges of grassed area without regard to what may be in there! If it happens to be further out it will be cut down by the tractor mower!

A few years ago an Anemone in my pots on the balcony set seed without my noticing it & one seed at least germinated & even managed to flower - a lovely red with a white centre, but a couple of days after it opened it was cut down by the mower!

I discovered 2 years ago some Grape Hyacinths flowering in the grass as well. Like the Anemone seeds fell into the grass, geminated, grew & flowered - till they were cut down! This year the same happened with the same clump. It grew, flowered & was cut down - even though I'd removed handfuls of grass from around the clump to make it clearly visible!

I expect they will flower again this year.

After the first rains in September a load of Morning Glory & Nasturtium seeds sprouted! very close to the edge of the balcony. I wondered how long they would last till the council gardeners came round & cut them down - well about a month is the answer! Anyway the first frost would have done the same!

I eventually found the bright red Anemone that self-sowed in the grass in front of the balcony but I had to search through G Photos where there are 1000s of my photos stored! I didn't have it on my computer as I thought but I downloaded it from G Photos.

I bought some more bulbs on Saturday. Mini-Daffs & Hyacinths. The Hyacinths I intend to pot up in smallish pots to bring into the house when the buds are far enough advanced.

I received a peony tuber for a variety that is expected to have bright red flowers with a yellow bullseye.

And a fritillaria bulb - damaged and soaking wet...

Shame about the Fritillaria, @CanadianLori ! Do you think you will be able to get a replacement or a refund? The Peony sounds lovely! :)

Silly me didn't check out their return/refund policy. They will replace the plant, if they have one, otherwise they only give you a credit against future purchases.

I do like the look of them so might find another source - that hopefully has things on offer with it being late in the season. :fingers crossed:

Be interesting to see at what time that flowers for you.
                            H. Syriacus flowers from late July until mid September here.

I agree Pete. The blooms look stunning. It is bigger than I thought, 85cm tall. I guess I should put it in partial full sun, maybe morning sun/afternoon shade. Sadly they were out of the Grevillea 'Fireworks' I ordered at the same time but got a refund.
