Oops, we crossed Karen and Upsy!

J was back by 9.10am with the Hibiscus Syriacus Double Purple bloom. It was in a rather large box ...

J has now gone off to Aldi to do the "heavy shop" and to pick up whatever he needs for my new computer.

Oh WOW that looks great Vicky, :dbgrtmb:
nice and healthy looking too. Good established size will certainly create an impact.

I am really chuffed with it Upsy and have a terracotta pot to put it in. Sadly they were out of the Grevillea 'Fireworks' I also ordered but got a credit.

          Sorry you are still suffering.

Our Internet came back late yesterday afternoon. :dbgrtmb:

            Good day
It is cloudy and 17f -8c but the guessers have said it will warm up to not far below freezing and we may actually get a glimpse of the sun. We did not get any of the predicted snow. :)

@Flumpy I'm glad to hear you're getting a much needed break and I hope you're scanning the advertisements to see if there are any more attractive positions out there to pursue. Perhaps a pre-breakfast chore and before you go on to enjoy your mini vacay. ;)

@Upsydaisy I hope you start getting rapid improvement. I haven't hit the diminished immunity stage yet. I'm only going to be turning a young 69 tomorrow and have been lucky to suffer very few ailments. Anything that has slowed me down has been acts of my own stupidity that caused muscle or bone injuries. Again, lucky me and I'm touching wood here!

@Victoria I am glad your wifi is up and that other repairs are being performed. It is nice when everything hums. Love your hibiscus. The one I had, the one with the braids, apparently is doing excellently and the flowers prolific. As soon as I got it all cleared of white fly by spraying it down a minimum of three times a day for over a month last summer, one granddaughter asked if she could have it! :doh:Oh well, at least she's got a good eye for plants.

@Michael Hewett I'd love to know how you keep track of what needs watering in your nursery. I cannot imagine trying to determine their needs. My method is quite Philistine. Everybody (inside)drinks using the capillary system and now that I use mosquito bits, there are zero soil gnats to accompany the moist soil.

I've got the last of some finishing hand sewing to do on my winter coat that I had taken apart and remade. I had never worn if after making it year before last and now it's almost the way I want it. And I need to go do some shopping. And a new battery is arriving for my tablet so I will be taking that apart today. And ... yes, lots of fun things to putter with.

            Cheers all :coffee:

              Love your Hibiscus @Victoria :dbgrtmb:

I'm glad you've been able to come on the forum today @Upsydaisy. I hope your symptoms will ease soon

I don't keep track of anything @CanadianLori. Most of them are succulents and cacti so it doesn't matter if I don't water regularly. I don't water them at all from November to February, unless I see one shriveling up. They're just dormant for those months.

In their growing seasons I let them dry out completely, and then I just water them all when I have time. However if I notice one has wet compost I pass it by and do it next time.
I do tend to water small pots oftener because they dry out faster.

Of the many house plants I've got I water them when I remember, or if I see one wilting.
I think most plants prefer being under-watered than over-watered.

Thank you. The table in the kitchen (which J made) matches the floor is 23 years old now. :yikes:

                      Good morning .
                      Hope everyone is well today.

Our weather is looking good for today so the laundry is done and about to be hung out, our next dry day is Friday so another load will get done then too..

Oh Lori you made me giggle...I certainly hope I haven't reached the diminished immunity stage !! :roflol: Hopefully I have a few more years yet.:fingers crossed:

This was just something that was picked up last year in tests . I had to have blood tests every 6 weeks to monitor it and eventually had an immunology appointment., apparently it's common to be born with certain low immune areas however the significant two that were picked up with me are uncommon to have together.
My thinking is if I was born with this ,then it certainly hasn't caused me any problems, so :dbgrtmb:.:) However it just might begin playing a part now in taking longer to shift things , but I hope not..:)

                      Have a good day everyone.

                      :spinning:

Italian Street Art to wake you up this morning! I love it.

It is grey out, 14c but promises to be a sun and cloud day heading for 19c.

Nothing planned today. I shall leave Violet (the tag on my new Hibiscus says 'Fiore doppio Violet' Double Flower Violet) in her travelling pot to let her rest and acclimatise for a few days.

Pleased your granddaughter is nuturing your braided Hibiscus, Lori. Think yours is the rosa-sinensis tropical species. Is that Sam? How is she doing?

                        Have a great day everyone.
