I am thinking of getting an adjustable bed because I can't sleep comfortably in an ordinary one now, but I don't know which company to get one from.
Has anyone got any experience or advice please ?

Cannot help with which company is best, but would say always try the bed before buying.

If you have a local Dreams bed outlet worth a visit as they have a bed/machine which you lay on and it somehow tests which type of matress is best for you. Have not tried it myself but next door have and they followed its recommendation and are happy with their purchase.

Also look at the modern beds with memory foam etc that might help your sleep problem without being adjustable, though many do say memory foam can feel very warm, though you do read about the extra 'cool layers' they now add in.

Sorry Ricky. I bought a good quality memory foam bed years ago and would never have another one. It loses it's memory after a few years and becomes uncomfortable. They can feel warm but wouldn't buy one with cooling layers. I like memory foam pillows and the one I have right now had a cooling layer but it made my head too cold. I removed the offending layer and it's fine now.

I had a Memory Foam pillow and all it remembered to do was give me a sore neck.

Have only tried a bed with a memory foam top layer and you could sink into them, but as many folk tell us who have bought one, they do get hot, and like you reverted back to a standard mattress.

Foam could be suitable for Michael but not knowing his problem hard to say, though looking around the web there are quiet a few places doing matress elevators which might be worth trying before the expense of a fully adjustable bed ?
eg - Mattress Elevators and Tilters for Use At Home

For us its pain from early back and hip arthritis , currentlly making up our own topper with some duvets as many web reviews say the shop toppers as just too thin.
Will find the right new mattress one day !

Thanks for all your help ...
I filled an online form on Monday with Oak Tree Mobility, to request a brochure, and surprisingly a man from there called to see me yesterday, he was in the area anyway.
Their beds have several different movements which you don't get with beds from other places, and they are making it to my individual specifications, re height width etc., so I've ordered one.
Of course it's more expensive than one you'd get in an 'ordinary' shop because of all the different movements, but if the mattress is unsuitable after a few weeks they will change it free of charge. They also service the bed every year, and they're giving me £200 off for trading in my old bed.

I don't know the make (not very helpful :noidea: but could find out) but I had the best bed I've ever used when on holiday just before covid. Here at home I don't use a bed but just sleep in an armchair that is fully adjustable as I only need a couple of hours, and suffer with cramp if my legs aren't elevated.

The bed on holiday was on a river cruise and the back support could be raised to any position - but more importantly for me, so could the area beneath my knees, forming a V shape under the knees at any position I wanted.

I hope you find the bed successful :blue thumb:

I'm glad you found the bed comfortable, the Oak Tree ones have the same positioning. That was one of the reasons I ordered one.
