Good morning @Upsydaisy, that picture of a sun you've put this morning is how I feel too. I've had enough cold weather now. I don't mind if the sun doesn't shine, I want to feel warm.
Even in the house with the heating turned up high, and lots of warm layers of clothes, I don't really feel comfortably warm ... and wearing lots of clothes feels uncomfortable too.

Last summer when we had that heat wave a friend of mine who doesn't like heat, said she'd rather have snow. I disagree, I can cope with a heat wave better than cold weather, even on bright sunny days.
Actually I don't mind rain, and even when it goes on for days it is better than this. It's like living inside a freezer.

I hope your quiet week end materializes.

I hope your internet problems get sorted out before Christmas @Victoria. Let us know how your plant is when it arrives.

I hope your rubbish is collected soon @CanadianLori, ours should have been yesterday but I think the conditions were too icy. The previous week it was too rainy. They only need half an excuse. It will be there until next week now - very unhealthy to have rubbish lying about, there's enough litter everywhere as it is.

      Morning Vicky

In my opinion, yes wait and see how the plant recovers, although I might notify them of my intentions and ask them to log that they might be hearing from me in the near future.

Yes we're planning a quiet weekend...my jigsaw has made it out from under the sofa...a move the right direction!:heehee:

      Have restful day.xx

Morning to you too Michael.

Sorry to hear you are suffering so from this cold snap. Try wearing thin layers, obviously they are less bulky but they still work well at trapping warm air around your body.

Have to confess I much prefer this cold ,crisp, bright and sunny weather and so does my body , it too can't cope with dark, gloomy grey damp days at all. I'm not nice to be around on days like that.....as my hubs will undoubtedly be quick to confirm!!;)

Try and snuggle down with a hot drink and a good book..or film maybe.

        Take care. xx

          Good day
It is 31f -1c so much warmer than you @Upsydaisy @Victoria your weather pic and comment gave me a giggle because that is how I feel about the guessers.

I would rather be cooked than frozen too but we're so used to packing ourselves in thick layers that when we step outside, we don't feel it much. And I keep the house heated up to "comfortable" during the day and "cozy" in the evening. I won't eat supper in the cold!

@Michael Hewett I don't have time to go to the other thread but just wanted to say that if you set a fan in the greenhouse and have it pointed toward a spot where the air will bounce and go across the ceiling, it will help immensely. The oscillating funs are good too but use lots of power rotating the head. Your humidity might also be because the greenhouse is new and it is a matter of time before it dries out? :noidea:

I hope @Flumpy you are having a good day. :blue thumb:

I start baking my Christmas stuff today. The gluten free doughs are warming up to room temperature right now. I mixed them yesterday and will get them baked today. I'll try to start on the sugary ones today too. Thank goodness the cookies that accidently get broken have zero calories and I can eat them :heehee:

The clothes washer is doing it's internal rumba with my first load of laundry and I'm going to jump in the shower and do another Hilda Ogden morning after reading the newspaper.

Altogether a productive day is planned. And fun day too.

          Cheers all :coffee:

Thank you @Upsydaisy, we are all different. I don't know of many people who like rain, except me and Mr Gibbon who worked in the ironmonger's shop in our village where I grew up. If I went in there on a rainy day he'd say to me "This is OUR weather isn't it".

I have layers of clothes but still feel miserable, I think I'm the opposite of what some people are like on dark gloomy days, I'm fine on days like that but I find cold sunshine very depressing.

I've already had several mugs of coffee and tea, and several chocolate biscuits :dbgrtmb:
            Take care xx

Thanks @CanadianLori, our posts crossed
I'm going to get the oscillating fan I use in the summer, and put it in the greenhouse.
I understand it must be damp in there too because it's new and was open to the wet air before the windows were installed. I have a dehumidifier somewhere. I'll try to find it and put it in there. The cacti won't mind..

                  Hi there @Flumpy :)

You're not alone as it's freezing down here as well, 3rd night in a row of -7C here. We may not have the snow but our frost layer gets thicker with each day as it never thaws out.

Snow is hit and miss really, Sheal and Jocko have it up in Scotland.

Why can't you all be together on Christmas day.....I'm sure you and your hubs will behave yourselves...won't you? ;):heehee:

If you can smell baking then it's drifting over from Canada!:)

my mum isn’t upto cooking for us all, we will be visiting at some point in the day to drop presents off, we don’t mind, I’m going to give her a rest next year, she is 86 now and has had a rough month with her bad fall. Hoping the temperature rises a little, don’t like driving in icy conditions, yesterday was the coldest at work, I had three layers on :rolleyespink:

We all use to help out by all providing parts of the meal to save one person doing it all. We started doing this the year my Mum had a knee replacement done 10 days before Christmas. And then until she passed away ( 6 years later) we all just carried on.:dbgrtmb:.

yes we normally do but since she had a mini stroke she gets very confused and stressed with all the fuss so that’s why I’m going to do it next year as we’ve been going to my parents house for years.

                          Good morning everyone!.

Another thick frost with fog to wake up to this morning but , and I'll whisper this so as not to jinx things like yesterday, our night-time temps could be getting milder......ssssh!

Not much on for today, I didn't get round to doing my jigsaw puzzle so that's top of my list today. I found a pair of unfinished fingerless gloves waiting patiently to be completed yesterday so that's what I decided to do instead.

                          Keep toasty warm everyone.

Morning all. It is a very grey morning here having had rain through the night but it is 14c going to 20c! Guess the rain is keeping our temps up.

Nothing planned here so just a quiet lazy Sunday.

                            Wishing everyone a relaxing day.

Good morning all, just woke to a part blue sky and part grey, snow seems to of disappeared but it’s still very cold, next week evenings in the NW are dropping to -4 so probably very frosty mornings :rolleyespink: .

Not doing much today, maybe Tesco shop and home.
Loving these pictures, Upsydaisy my neighbor Steph does lots of knitting, she’s retired but actually helps out at a wool shop in the centre :)

                                Good day
Or I should say, Good Grief, your weather is as cold as mine! 30f -1 and snowing. Accumulation so far is only about 2 inches.

Yes, I'm the one baking and the house smells lovely.

Yesterday I go the gluten free items done. Snickerdoodles, Shortbread, Meringues, Spritz and Chocolate chip with a cherry on top to make it look festive. The gluten free trays now have heaps on them. I had to use large cello bags for them and only need to add some candy canes for a little bit of decoration before they are ready to deliver. A lady my son works with has cancer and one of the trays is for her as she also has the misery of having that diet restriction.

Today I will try to bake the other doughs I have ready - non gluten free. Xmas cake cookies, spritz, snickerdoodles, ice box and maraschino/choc/coconut. I've still got to mix the shortbread and gingerbread doughs and make the pastry for the mince and cherry tarts. I figure I'll have to leave those last two until tomorrow. There's only so much I can bake in a day. But it's good that I am not wasting weekend low time of use electricity rates. :)

                                Cheers :coffee:
