Today we had a drive into the city centre to visit our dental hygienist. Despite having lived here a year now, I don't particularly like driving in the city traffic. It is not the traffic per se that bothers me but getting in the right lane, not getting caught in box junctions and avoiding the dreaded bus lanes.

That's a new word for me. Soft hail. Not a day passes without learning something.

Just heard that my niece, who went down with what she thought was a cold just over a week ago has be diagnosed with Whooping Cough. Her husband who also went down with the 'cold', and their young son have been put on antibiotics too..

They predicted that there would be more respiratory issues this Winter.....just shows you must remain vigilant , even if you initially think it's ' just a cold'.:dbgrtmb:

Last month hubby got his first state pension, yesterday i got a letter saying how much i would be getting next March. I'll be getting £2. more than him every 4 weeks and i haven't worked since i was bringing up a family, but because the child benefit gets taxed it has come from there. We're really pleased, we thought that it might be half of that.
Hubby has worked all the time at Halfords and warehouse, he says that because his work was contracted out by Halfords his might be a bit lower than mine.

It's nice to read some good news  for a change. I'm very pleased for you Logan :dbgrtmb:. My approach to pensions is to spend the lot - nothing is saved - spend - spend - spend.:blue thumb:

Something that I lurned yesterday - which was a bit of a surprise.

There is a founding member of NATO which does not have an army. They bring no military hardware at all to the alliance. Mind you, with 29 other members ready to step in - they don't need their own army.

They are sending civilian winter clothing for the Ukrainian forces - which I suspect - given their climate - will be more than a match for the military specific gear.
