John has told Jim that Silves has crashed too so possibly a nationwide problem.

Morning all. I slept like a log, nearly eight hours again, after my stressful day yesterday.

Caroline and Steve are coming over for a visit this afternoon and they will drop J off to get his car on their way home ... hurray! We will socialise in The Baffa.

Trust Upsy got up to town safely. xx

        Good morning everyone.

Well we made it!! Arrived at son's just after 4:30pm yesterday ,so not bad at all especially as our train was slightly delayed too. Found all the connections Ok...so all went smoothly. :dbgrtmb:

Son is working this morning ( from home) so hubs and I might go out and do our own exploring ,if not we are all going out at lunchtime.

We had a video call with middle son and girlfriend this morning before they set off to the airport to fly to Germany. They then cross the border into France to spend the holidays with GF's parents.

We also had a video call from youngest last night from Spain, he had to stop over before leaving for Bolivia this morning. I don't envy this stage of his travels..11hrs fly time. :thud:

So all is good now that we've seen all our babies.

Sorry to hear that you had yet more problems yesterday Vicky.....issues seem to be stalking you and J, let's hope you can lose them, shake them off very soon...better still they will leave you be on their own accord and find someone else to hound.:dbgrtmb:

Enjoy time with C&S in your lovely Baffa.

        Have a good day everyone.

          Good day
It is warm again. 35f 1.5c and the guessers have said the temps will dip. The also say that later today, we will be bombarded with snow and rain which will turn into skating rinks. I hope things are properly salted, etc before Saturday morning as I have a champagne brunch to attend.

@Upsydaisy I'm glad you got to your son's without a giant hassle and look forward to hearing about your discoveries.

With our forecast in mind, I'll do a quick bit of shopping before lunch. One of the big pharmacy chains over here always has 20% for seniors on Thursdays and I certainly take advantage of that!

Well, yesterday I got out the pressure cooker and processed 5 lbs of beets. Skinned them and put them up in freezer bags. Then later I went to check the Christmas dinner veggies in the fruit cellar to make sure nobody was trying to sprout and guess what? There was another 5 lb bag of beets in there! :roflol: So today I will be taking out the pressure cooker...

          Cheers all :coffee:

            Morning all.

Had a lovely visit yesterday from Caroline and Steve and one of Steve's daughters who came in from Dubai on Wednesday. She has been living there for three years now.

Nothing happening today except J's lunch with John.

            Wishing all a good day.

              Good morning everyone.

Well it was a tad on the damp ( ish) side yesterday, and very damp this morning!!!

We went out with our son at lunchtime then we decided to explore a bit more on our own ( well Ok ..it was my idea :oopss:) as he had to go back home to do a bit more work.

Oh my did we get lost :yikes:!!!! Not only did we not know the area we went to ( never again will I just jump on the first bus I see, without heeding hubs protests!!!!), but to make matters worse neither of us could name the road where we caught the bus from originally ...let alone it's number!!!!

After a walking around in circles trying to retrace our steps in order to figure out which bus route would take us back to son's area we realised everywhere was a one way system and could even find a bus stop heading back in the right direction.
Thankfully a cup of Costa coffee and a chat with a very helpful employee set us on the right track home and we eventually made it back...in the dark!!!

I've been strictly instructed never to attempt to go off on a bus without doing a bit of preliminary research first.....hubs was surprisingly forgiving!!! :heehee::dbgrtmb:

              Have a brilliant day.

                Good day
It is now trying to snow and 36f 2c. When I dragged the rubbish and recycle to the kerb, giant wet blobs were falling on me. Almost like having a slush shower! The guessers, all of them, are saying that it will be extremely cold the next few days so all that wet will give us an ice rink. Very upsetting because of so many having to shop at the last minute due to working M-F 9-5.

@Upsydaisy you'd laugh if you saw me the time I went into total freeze in the London underground. Stupid me, on my first morning, with my suitcase and all, had decided to start my day early and got smack in the middle of the morning rush. I landed up with my back pasted to a wall and keeping my case as flat against the wall as possible too so as not to get in anyone's way. A human stampede! :yikes: One of the staff noticed me and after the crowd had passed, was very kind and helped me get to the line I needed to ride. After that experience, I made a point of studying the map. I'm surprised I didn't wear the ink from it! I did use the announcements after that as a trigger to relax. "Mind the gap" always made me smile because I remembered that from an old horror movie, Death Line.

I've now got the shoulder measurements, finally, for both 14 3/4 year olds. So I shall start cutting out their tunics and will sew them while dressed up Hilda Ogden style. (the slush shower turned my hair into a bird's nest!) I have to rethread all the machines again to get the correct colour so that makes 10 spools to change out before starting. I love sewing but find doing these changes boring!

                Cheers all :coffee:

I know the feeling well Lori. Add a stressed Hubs to the mix and it's one of the worse experiences in my older aged years.!!! He won't wear his hearing aid so I have to stayed tuned to all the announcements while trying to maintain as low as possible stress levels . ( He has a heart condition too).

Hey ho my current daily mantra is...

Years ago I had a new company car, a White Escort, at the time when it appeared everyone had this model in White. I took the family to Brighton, forgot where I'd parked the car. A nightmare trying the find the correct car as I couldn't remember the Reg Number...........and trying my keys in many White Escorts.

@john558 I know that feeling too. I have a distinct dark blue mustang convertible with a white top and it was my day driver to many years so when I first bought my big old "soccer mom van" in silver, I learned just how many there are after visiting a big box store in New York state and coming out to realize that I should have made a big point of memorizing it's location

Good morning everyone how are you all.

Behave yourselves today as Santa is keeping a close eye on us all !! :santagift:

Enjoyed a good exploration of son's local area yesterday with hubs then went out for cocktails and a meal in the evening, locally.

We're steering clear of central until after Christmas as it will undoubtedly be mayhem.

Today we won't be getting lost as son will be accompanying us, there are a couple of museums ,parks, coffee shops and a Turkish food store we want to go to. We might even make it back to the place hubs and I got lost in too.:)

                        Have a lovely day,.

                            Morning.

Today we will do as usual and that is have a cold cuts meat and cheese buffet in the evening ... the German way as J's family was of German heritage and because of my sister. Actually, the Portuguese celebrate tonight too ... with fish and cabbage, boiled eggs and prawns!!!

We don't do presents ... I treated myself to my plants this month, the Hibiscus syriacus and the Adenium obessum which miraculously arrived yesterday at the Post Office, and another one to come from Spain this coming week.

Have a relaxing day whatever you do.

                              Good day,
We are still having our storm. It is 8f at the moment -13c The wind kept tossing the recycle bins around yesterday which made it frustrating for most of the people on this street. The house is still shuddering too.

Sounds like a fun day exploring for you @Upsydaisy. And @Victoria I was thinking how terrible since your plant would be dead but then remembered you don't have to worry about things freezing in transit :blue thumb:

I've got the breads for the stuffing cooling on a rack. I like to add parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme baked into the bread. And I'm sat on my behind for the moment and sipping my cuppa. It's going to be a busy day. Lots to do before going to a champagne brunch and then also after when I get back. It's always "nice" busy at Christmas isn't it?

                              Cheers :coffee:

Hi all, it’s been a crazy week at work, my body feels exhausted, I’ve been to the hairdressers and wrapped all presents this am and now got my feet up watching a Xmas film.

Upsydaisy, glad you arrived at your sons in one piece, hope you all have a lovely time :dbgrtmb:

John I remember when my mother in law climbed in what she thought was her husband’s car, the man in the drivers seat turned around :heehee: said who are you! She soon jumped out :heehee::heehee:
