I didn't know until today that Bang and Olufsen produce computers but are now owned by HP.

Well done Sheal, hope you enjoy your new machine. :yay:

Worth hanging on to your old laptop as it will act as a good backup for your photos etc.

Running a photo duplicate program as we mentioned in the other thread can help free up a lot of space.

My desktop PC, (which I'm writing on now), has very rarely given me any problems & I've had it for at least 3 or 4 years. :dbgrtmb: I'm now running out of space on the HDD & will have to get some external memory if I want to carry on using it!

Last year I tried to upgrade it to Win 10 but it wouldn't let me. It's running Win 7 & I'm as happy with it as I used to be with Win XP on my previous machine!

I installed Win 10 on my laptop which my wife is using today. I like the Toshiba machine as it has really clear, sharp images & a nice wide 17" screen! Last year I tried to upgrade it to Win 11 but the tool said I couldn't as it doesn't meet the minimum specifications it needs to run Win 11. That's no problem as Win 10 works just fine - even though it's not registered!

The problem with this machine is that it crashes very frequently! Just this morning it crashed at least 3 times! I installed a programme a couple of days ago to update the drivers hoping that would fix the problem - sadly it hasn't!:dunno:

I keep it updated with Windows update service & have all the patches that are available.

Nothing to stop you replacing your hdd for a larger one or even fitting an extra hdd second drive.
Better and a lot faster if you bought a SSD and use that as your C drive and the orignal HDD as your D: data drive.

You should be able to upgrade it to W10 if your W7 has a valid product key ?
Best to do a clean install using the Media Creation Tool -
              Download Windows 10

Which PC do you mean, your W7 desktop or the W10 laptop.

If its the W10 there is a bug in the latest MS updates which is said to cause problems/ crashes particularly at power up.

Check your Updates History to see if you have installed update KB5021233, if so see Microsofts site for a work around.

Neither have we and its been on our system since 14/12.

As often happens it seems to affect only certain pcs but as yet no one seems to know which ones and why ? though did read some comment that it was MS trying to fix an existing problem with the Camera App and Low memory.

Could be part of @Balc s problem or not, but as he says has got all the updates in, he might want to try rolling back the update in question, though it may be something totally different ??

He says "I installed a programme a couple of days ago to update the drivers" which sets our alarm bells off, as some of those programs can cause more problems that they solve, plus W10 is normally very good at loading the correct drivers, unlike older windows.

Still celebrating ? knew some folk up there who used to make New Year last the full week !:ccheers:

@Balc technology has a habit of biting back with me and at times I feel like dropping my computer in the bin. :) Whatever issues I have, they always seem to be out of the norm.

My biggest need is contact with my three children on a daily basis. One in America, one in Canada and the other on the Isle of Man - so Messenger and Skype are a must. :)

There was a time. We split a bottle of Prosecco on New Years Day (we were in bed before the bells), and that was our lot.

Thanks @ricky101 for your info! I was talking about my laptop which I've now given to my wife. All the crashes have happened ever since I installed Win10 on it. This has been going on for 4 years now! So it's has nothing to do with recent updates or the driver programme I installed either, which, BTW, I uninstalled the day after giving it to my wife.

It's exceedingly rare for my desktop PC with Win 7 to have any sort of problems. Though one of these rare incidents happened just a week or so ago! But now it works just fine again!

You probalby will have done this, but the two things we would check on the W10 laptop is how much Ram memory it has and does it pass the MemTest and how much free space is left on C: drive. After that so many things could be causing it...

I've tried that at least twice over the last 2 years but it won't let me! I have a copy of Win 10 burnt to a DVD which is what I used to install Win 10 on my laptop. I tried it with this this desktop PC with Win 7 but it wouldn't let me.

Thanks for the link but that is where I downloaded it from 2 or 3 years ago.
