Thanks Vicky for the video link, no definitely never heard it before.:)

My friend from my school days ( the one who sadly lost her hubby at Christmas) told me recently that all our group of friends were jealous of how free and easy going my parents were in regards to allowing us to have our friends over to socialise. If I went out for an evening ( or my older sister) we always knew the back gate was open allowing us to invite our friends in ( kitchen only late evenings) for drinks/ snacks. My sister's friends and mine all use to get on well , if they were still up then my parents would stick their heads round the door to say 'hi ' to everyone.......obviously later in life and through latter years conversations with them it became clear that they were really checking us all out  ,but at the time it certainly didn't feel like it.

Our bedrooms were out own private spaces and we could use them whenever we wished and have friends in them , my sister and I had a record player and we would all sit and listen/ dance to the songs.

We had to play by the rules though, never too loud as to cause annoyance to my parents or younger siblings and we had to clear away everything afterwards...which was good. Our parents respected our need for privacy/ personal space and as long as we never overstepped the mark we were rewarded with minimum restrictions.
There are 8- 10 yr age gaps between our youngest sibling and ourselves so I think our parents realised that as teenagers we sometimes needed to get away from the little ones.
We had rules to follow and ...we gladly did. It was perfect.
Our boy's were given the same rules and freedoms too and we never had any issues at all.

        Happy days.

I worry when I see groups of young children aimlessly walking around during the school holidays and often wonder if that is the only way they can be together to socialise...out from under there parents feet. So sad.

The face @Flumpy ...?? .. I think it portrayed the perfect angry face.....and gale force winds most nights lately and torrentialrain causing local flooding certainly earns my best angry glare!!

            :hapfeet:
ill have to try that aggressive look at work :heehee: had a customer fffing and blinding at me down the phone Thursday just because the surgery hadn’t done his script, but then ended the call by saying “I suppose I should just ffing we’ll die then, one it wasn’t my fault and two I don’t get paid to be shouted and swore at, that’s when I got migraine and am still suffering now, I understand his frustration but it wasn’t us at fault.

Yes I too had my friends round and family, we had fields behind us where we played in summer making dens or winter sledging down the hills happy days :dbgrtmb::)

At least they are angry over their health concerns, try coping with vain customers who bring in pics of celebs and demand the same hairstyle and then get into a right old paddy when they realise afterwards that having the body and expensive clothes/ make up is also needed to get the absolute look 'right' .... you have to laugh:roflol:. However only a month later when you can safely recall the events without wanting to stick your head in a gas oven anymore.:wallbanging:

That's the 'fun ' part of working directly with the public..nobody gets paid to be verbally abused ,but unfortunately it happens mainly due from sheer frustration....or fear these days sadly.

Yes it was magic. but it was hot as hell on Summer days and sadly flooded the inside on rainy days. It was there for 17 years and rarely got used. Also the last six years I wouldn't have been able to get up the stairs.

It was a shame Vicky, but understandable . Hot spots are quite unusable in the heat of high summer...we learnt that last summer!!! :phew:

Oh gosh @Flumpy yes so did we, there were fields/ a farm behind us and when we were small we too played out all day in the summer, our friends came into our house mainly in the winter. But as we got older ( teenagers) we grew out of playing in the fields and den making.:heehee:

The latter picture was taken in 2009 and you can see the Poinsettia on the left and the small triangular shrub on the right is the Viburnum under a Jacaranda. My how things have grown! On the very far left is a Lantana hedge I removed and now the Brugmansia is there with the in-ground Hibiscus under it. It is the Dining Patio with umbrella down beyond.

Morning all. A nice day out there but we have nothing special planned.

True, but J never went up there either. Neither of us are much for just sitting about and neither are readers so to speak. We would go up and have a drink ... but what's that, an hour or two. It is funny, we had a full roof terrace on our apartment at the coast and rarely used it ... or the swimming pool there! We had the apartment for nearly 30 years. You never see folk up on roof terraces here ... except at holiday resorts. They are mainly used for laundry. Folk also don't just sit in the sun. We prefer the shade and to sit in a jungle environment because the sun is almost always there Portuguese love the beaches and eating out at restaurants where they will spend hours. Attitude is totally different when you like in such a place.

                              Have a relaxing day.
