Absolutely nothing again this weekend as the ground too wet and the greenhouse ticking over quietly.

Nothing today but I think my good ladies' handling of the lilies yesterday has had an adverse effect. She woke up this morning with a face like a slapped ar$e (her words, not mine). Still hot but the colour is dying down.

Nothing today it's too cold, even if I'd put on my thermals I'd still be cold. Bad enough walking the boys.

When you say NO to the good lady, I find it easier to say PROBLEM after it

This morning I decided, as it seems we are in for a week of dry weather, to put the pots of Pansies back in their rings on the top of the balcony railings. As I did so I found that in half of the pots the Pansies were dead or dying! Fortunately they are underplanted with Crocuses so not all is lost. The pots that are alright seem to have stronger plants but I don't know what is causing them to die. All 12 pots have been on the top of the railings since October & have all been treated the same. Some in the troughs are also dying but others are growing strongly!

I found that the more common flower colours are always stronger plants, which is why I always think its worth keeping some of the more weedy looking seedlings when pricking out mixed seed.

I've got two variegated Hebes in pots (don't know their names) and they got badly beaten by the cold weather before Christmas, and have lost most of their leaves, so I brought them indoors for a few days while the next cold snap lasts. They are in the middle of the kitchen floor, standing on a blue recycling bag and I'll have to dodge around them, but it's only for a few days  Next winter I'll make room for them in the greenhouse.

I shan't be doing any gardening as it is freezing and the tree surgeons will be in all day. The three of them hope to finish today but I seriously doubt it. :noidea:

Took delivery of our new pond. The old one split with the frost before Christmas.
