Just waiting for a lull in the heavy showers to dash out and wrap up a couple of variegated oleanders before the great cold arrives tomorrow. I'm working on some sort of 'pop-up' insulated, waterproof upside-down bin that could be pinned down over tender plants. Don't think anyone has invented it yet?

I didn't today either. Well actually I did go out - just for 5 mins in the morning & then another 5 mins in the evening. I went out onto the balcony to open the mini-greenhouse door. That was in the morning, (I'd closed it up Monday evening but then I forgot to open it again Tuesday morning! :rolleyespink:), I wanted to get rid of the condensation. Then, just before sunset this evening, I went out to shut it up again.

After the 2 weeks of terrible cold weather with very hard frosts & snow during the first couple of weeks in December 2022 I don't want to risk any more of the plants that survived in the MG dying during this frosty week!

Well gardening took a back seat last year due to the health of both of us, I did a bit of construction earlier on but a weeks job took from March to august, leaving other work untouched.
So what’s this year got in stock, well now much whilst it’s cold I hope to be out in March weather permitting.
Still the wildlife is entertaining in the garden, digby is keeping us entertained indoors.

I opened the greenhouse door and windows for ventilation, and found my Euphorbia trigona has turned into a soggy mush ! :frown: bl**dy weather :frown: I've timed a heater to come on in there for two separate hours tonight. I'll be glad when it turns mild. I don't care if it rains, it's better than snow and ice killing everything.
I'll have to close the g/house door and windows later on.

You need a thermostat Michael, it could even work out cheaper to run that way.

I agree. The greenhouse is new so maybe I'll get one soon.

My inflatable Christmas lawn ornament faded so I threw it out but kept the fan. I could sew a clear or light white globe to fit over something

@infradig , @Michael Hewett - I'd agree - inkbird just works. I have the version with 2 plugs to turn on heater or fan for cooling

I have one but my biggest moan is its not the simplest thing to set up.
I dont want cooling either, so more confusion.

I've got one in another greenhouse with just a dial, simple.
