No I used to make it with the Seville oranges, as you say they're not available all the time and found them a bit bitter for marmalade. So i use ordinary oranges with 2 lemons.
Mother in law started doing hers from ordinary oranges and we found them better. Can make a three fruit one with grapefruit, oranges and lemons. Sometimes the pith in the grapefruit can be thick but if chosen well can find thinner.

This year they did have the Seville oranges in Sainsbury's but only briefly in January. Used to get them from the market in town but there's no market since they re-designed the kingfisher shopping centre.

One of my neighbours used to buy tinned sliced Seville oranges and make small batches of marmalade through the year.
Mamade was the brand she used, other brands are available and some are thick cut.
          Also tinned sliced lemons.

Today was a trip to the vet's, with the cats, to have their claws clipped. Veterinary Nurse suggested Toby only needs his clipped every second time Lily needs her's done, but the advantage of taking them both together is they both come back with the same smells, so there is no Mexican Standoff on their return.

My day apart from gardening has been nothing ! ... I am a prisoner in my own house because of the icy weather, and I am fed up (I was going to say something else but thought 'fed up' sounded better)
I can't even do any art or read because this weather makes me feel so unwell and miserable :frown: ... so that's my day, a complete waste of time.

Well I'm pleased to say the buses were running on time early morning today and for our return trip at lunchtime. .... :phew: so only a walk of 1.5 miles today.

@Michael Hewett , is the ground very icy where you are?
The pavements are clear here unlike the freeze back in December and I had a short walk today, its surprising how much better you feel if its only 10 minutes or so.

I tend to be an in and out person this time of the year, I cant stay indoors so I have a wander round the garden and come back in if its cold.
I find if I sit around indoors I feel even colder and no matter how much heating you put on you still dont feel good.

I'm not suggesting colonialism at all, I'm just following your lead about moving continents, we just move all land masses 2000 miles further south, that should upset the Aussies.;)
