Whats Your Weather Like April 2023

We watched Michael Portilllo going around the Isle of Man on the steam train earlier and learned they still speak Manx there. interesting. I know you were there a long time ... but why cold, snowy Scotland? although you have an enviable Paradise.

 

Possibly Pete. That's probably due to the humidity here, it's still high.

 

I think it will be due to the SW winds while we probably get NE winds for the early part of next week.

 

Yes @Victoria, Manx Gaelic is being brought back to life. Over the last couple of decades it has been re-introduced to a number of the schools and in one Primary school is used every day and considered the school's first language.

Scotland actually gets very little snow but there is an occasional year when it's worse. I don't mind the cold or the snow and the summers are cooler than the rest of Britain. I like the sun but not the heat so the climate here suits. I love Scotland's landscape and history and read a lot about it. I feel at home here and wish I/we had made the move earlier.

The island is a lovely place but has a wet climate with a lot of rainfall. It's also small 38 x 13 miles, and after many years spent there became claustrophobic to a certain degree. Travel to and from the island is expensive and difficult throughout autumn, winter and early spring.

 

Again this morning we started the day with transparent skies! At 7.30am there were only a few wispy candyfloss pink clouds in the sky! During the day the sun has been out most of the time & we have had very few clouds. The wind has dropped off some more today & is little more than a breeze! That has allowed the temps outside on the balcony to rise a little & I was able to be outside for at least 10 mins this morning!

Tonight though we are forecast -3C or -4C & freezing fog. We have a yellow alert for freezing fog tomorrow morning in place. The fog is expected to come down at bedtime & most of Sunday morning with temps not getting above freezing until 11am at the earliest! This is for tomorrow morning but Monday & Tuesday are not looking much better, though there are no yellow alerts for those days at the moment.

 

A lovely clear windless evening. Sat and watched the ISS space station go over for 4 minutes at 06.19pm,

-5c hard frosty again very light mist but had bad fog through the night

 

"Red sky in the morning, Shepherd's warning" ! and as long as it's warning us there's milder weather on the way I don't care. I want to feel well again.
It didn't seem so cold during the night anyway because it was cloudy, so I may be in luck
