Not sure what to do.

I've mentioned the young ginger cat who comes round some days and makes himself comfortable for a few hours before wandering off.
Well he turned up this morning and peed on the carpet, but it contained blood, he moved off around midday and I watched him pee up the garden, again blood.
He seems very sleepy and lethargic, but also brightens up some times.

I've made up a paper collar and will try to get it on him before he goes out tonight , its got my phone number on it, I just hope the owner spots it and calls me.

 

I have never had this happen after 55 years pf cats owning me so all I can say is it needs to go to a Vet as it could just be a urinary tract infection, or worse. Hopefully the owners will see your note and call.

 

Aw Pete that is worrying but bless you you've done all that is possible.

 

If you Google Blood in a Cats Pee there are a few things it could be.

 

I tried getting an id, on facebook, a few years ago of his old mate, he had bumps all over and I'm sure this one comes from the same house as he turned up as a kitten with him one day.
I never feed them now, I now know that was a mistake.


I took him to the vet a couple of years ago as he was always trying to get in my house and they scanned him and contacted the owner, but they, presumably, are not allowed to tell me who his owner is, the owner just said he's very friendly and it was left at that.

 

Can you take it to a PDSA vet? Years ago the PDSA would fund treatment for animals where the owner is unknown. I don't know if they still do.

 

I think the PDSA only work for nothing if you are on benefits.

TBH Id be prepared to pay a small fee to get him sorted but Its not my cat, I cant really get involved without the owner's consent, and the stupid laws won't let the vet tell me who owns him.

 

How about taking it back to the same vet and explain the situation and ask them to contact the owners.?

 

That will be my last resort.
He's gone out now with the collar on.
It was a bit loose so I hope he doesn't lose it.

 

That's what I assumed, I did ask and she just said not far from you, I mentioned the road over the back from me and she reluctantly nodded.

 

Thing is...if it's a bladder or kidney infection, it needs attention asap. We lost one of ours a couple of months ago because he hid himself away for a couple of days and by the time I got him to the vet it was too late, despite a week of treatment. If he comes round again, try to get him into a zippable sports bag or something secure but with air holes and get him to the vet asap. If the owners can be traced, they can also be billed!

 

Well he went off at 10pm with the paper collar on.
Sometimes he doesn't show up at weekends, I get the feeling he lives in a house where there is nobody there most of the time.
