A couple of hitches.

@Sheal I'm using Win11 for the very first time to reply to you. As I began to type your name the little box appeared as always. I'd written the first 4 letters by the time it came up!

I'm using Firefox as my browser & have no trouble logging in - now that I recovered my passwords that had all disappeared.

 

Presumably its some setting on your new laptop or the browser then

 

Thank you @Loofah, but when it comes to the inner workings of my computer I'm almost completely illiterate. I don't understand any of it, so I will get my son to sort it for me when he can.

 

The names appear for me too @Balc but when I hit them they don't automatically insert the name.

 

@Sheal I find the same thing happens when a name is longer than 4 or 5 letters - I have to write the whole name out before I click on the box & it stays!

 

@Sheal , I got to "she" before the box opened, I clicked on it and it filled the rest in.

 

I don't see the point in clicking on the box if you have to type the whole name out first anyway.

Yes, I get the first three letters up too and the box opens, but if I click on the box it vanishes. The assumption at the moment is that it's a touchpad problem, but tagging works on a similar forum. My son has solved a similar problem with the drop down box when I log in.

 

Thanks Loofah, but the drop down box is no longer appearing so I can't try that.

 

An update on my original post....

Both problems have been solved. Tagging still doesn't work with the touchpad but I select a username from the drop down list and press the enter key.
