I just put my photos in a file under my pictures, it was only yesterday I noticed I have a photo app already installed.
    I've never used one.

@ricky101 For my photos I have disabled the phone app & even OneDrive! Things work so much better now! I kept getting warning that my OneDrive account was nearly full & to upgrade to a bigger account! Though it won't upload any more pictures to the cloud at least I will have control over them now!

The DVD idea was extremely bad! Not only did I loose half a day recording them to the discs I had to spend even longer trying to get them on the new PC! Lesson learned for the future! I was able to open two DVDs yesterday & today & eventually got the photos off them. One I marked yesterday as "unreadable" but today it became "readable". I also came across 1 disc that had 100s & 100s of photos of my plants from last year - all perfectly in folders - only the folders were EMPTY! The process of burning them to the DVD didn't copy the photos inside the folders!!! :rolleyespink::thud::gaah:

Quite right @wiseowl. When I bought my previous laptop it had Windows 8 installed and my son suggested that I would find it difficult to get used too. I updated it to Windows 10 which had not long been released and if my memory serves me well, it was about a year before most of the gremlins were dealt with by Microsoft.

I installed Windows 10 on my Windows 8 laptop immediately after it became available and never experienced any issues. I know there were regular updates but I never had anything evident with the software I use on my machine. It runs the same today as it did back then.

Going back to the idea that you get used to things.
I used w8 for 7 yrs or more and never found it difficult to use after the initial change over period from XP.

Read the thread, and as you say, surprisingly similar to this thread. People just do not like change.

I don't mind change, except when it's change for no real reason.
I've always thought if ain't broke don't fix it.

Something I've noticed when using the new laptop and Edge is that when visiting a site that has an E mail contact button it instead of taking me straight to my E mail page it wants me to set up an account for Microsoft 365 office for some reason.
I get an array of options but not just going directly to my E mail.

When I click on the account it says it already exists, well I know that I've been using it for years.
But it wont take me to my E mail.

I've always used chrome as well, but I'm trying to get used to Edge as I have to get out of S mode if I want to download chrome.
Not worried too much about abandoning S mode but just going along with it for now.

I've used no other browser but Firefox for many years. I always set it up as my default browser but still Win11 insists on opening its info pages in Edge! Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to delete it from the computer!
