Planted some snowdrops in the green , they are they new varieties that are quite tall, 30cm I’m told. Hope they bulk up for next year as they are looking sparse. Mulched round The cyclamen coum to complete the little bed. Ordered a bag of seed compost, as I’m chomping at the bit with the seeds for the propagator. V

Only put the plants back in the greenhouse & closed the door - can't have them get frostbite! :rolleyespink:

Can't go into the garden today as my neighbour is having Asbestos tiles removed from her kitchen roof. Shame as it's nice and sunny.

They used to damp them down when removing asbestos.
I doubt you will get enough to cause a problem to be honest..
But best to be on the safe side.

We have a stack of yellow croci blooming in our meadow. There was nothing there yesterday.

Cut the Beech hedge back hard this afternoon as well as the Honey suckle on the fence between me and next door and took the eupatorium stems to the ground while I was there . Pruned Wisteria and some bits off the apple tree. It been a nice day everything was white this morning with frost but the Sun been out all day . Attacked a holly as well .

Sorry to anyone who's read this before but I'd put it in the wrong thread. Now I've moved it here.

I've decided my garden has become too labour intensive for me now
(in my dotage :old::heehee:) so I've found someone to come and help me sort it out and hopefully redesign it so that it's easier for me to look after - plants need dividing, thinning out, removing, relocating, and maybe the layout needs changing too, so I've arranged for someone to come and see it next Monday, and we'll have a discussion about what and how it needs to change.

I didn't want someone who could just mow lawns and cut hedges, and go all over the place with a strimmer, so I called in a local garden centre, owned by a very helpful friendly lady, and she gave me the name of someone who understands plants and who will be able to advise and do the necessary work.

It's a bit nerve wracking, and anxiety provoking, but also exciting (I think) ... well we'll say it's exciting

You could do a new thread about the change and (if you're open to it) talk about the project, challenges and how you feel about it. Pretty sure a lot of us will face this sooner or later

Well, @Michael Hewett, I hope everything works out well for you & that you are happy with the final result! I'll look out for the thread if you decide to do as Loofah has suggested!

Last autumn I had to throw away the 3 long white plastic troughs I had had on the balcony for more than 20 years! They had been getting more & more difficult to manage each year for the last five or more years. I used to change the bedding plants twice a year but now that I'm well into my 7th decade it was getting too much for my poor back! :old::rolleyespink:

Today I stood in my front garden in disgust. We have had to get serious work done to our roof and the roofers have dumped all the rubble from the tiles into the front garden, covering a big flower bed and the front lawn. The only saving grace is that the time of year means all will not be lost.
Yesterday they pressure-washed 70 years of moss off the old tiles and the back garden, which is always damp at this time of the year, now looks like the Somme.
