Mine was a bit off my fathers plant originally and took about 15 years to flower from there. I understand they need to be fairly mature and have plenty of light to flower.

I agree with Nigel. Mine did not bloom till I moved here and it must have been around 20 years old.

One of mine is about 30 years old. I'll have to give it a bit more neglect

@NigelJ I don't really know. :noidea: It spent all its life (2 years!) in the kitchen window, (faces WSW), & it certainly got plenty of light - & sun when it was out!

Strictly speaking, not a houseplant but a visitor.

Hyacinths are starting to open. They were reduced to clear from Wilkos in December, and I must say that later planting produces better plants than those forced for Christmas. Mid winter ones get leggy and pale no matter what, but these ones seem quite compact and have a good foliage colour.

And the price tag was not too bad either, I think I paid 20p for three bulbs

I'm wondering if this spiky thing is a flowering shoot on my orchid ?
I've killed every orchid I've ever bought but this one seems to be defying all my efforts and is surviving ! :dbgrtmb:

Yes it's a flower spike on your orchid Michael, be careful not to break it off, they can be quite brittle at that stage.

Lovely Clivias, @Michael Hewett! There may not be as many flowers on it as you might like but they are still lovely! :dbgrtmb:

This was originally a revolting dyed blue one given to my Mum by someone which fortunately reverted back to white the second year.
