Have had a lovely day out, we had just planned to nip into our local little town but instead we went into Southampton.

It was incredibly foggy as we approached the city but thankfully it was slightly clearer by the waterfront. We enjoyed a lovely meal and had a walk along the waters edge. Had a quick stop off at our local town to do what we had originally planned to do before heading home.
It's been beautifully sunny and very mild this afternoon.:smile:

I was wrong. It turns out that Sir Keir does have a back bone:

Jeremy Corbyn will not be a Labour candidate at the next general election, party leader Sir Keir Starmer has said.

Sir Keir said the party had changed under his leadership and "we are not going back", adding that if others did not back him they could leave.

A gloriously sunny day here again despite the fact that our current forecast states that its raining with 78% precipitation!!! Ummmm noooooo!!:nonofinger: Wrong!!!

We spent the day in our other local city, Winchester. We are so fortunate to have two great cities to explore within 6 miles from our doorstep.

Today we walked a section of the Itchen Navigation path. Taking our time and stopping for a drink and sandwich at lunchtime.
We did a circular walk from King Alfreds statue through the water medows then crossed the river at St Catherine's Hill ( which I have yet to climb since my knee surgery) and walked back to Winchester city centre. We had hoped to walk up St Giles Hill, in fact we did actually start to but hubs said he couldn't do it as he was tired . Next time he said we would do it before we embarked on a day of walking.

        Some pics.

As this thread is about what we did (besides gardening) my wife & I spent most of the morning at the hospital She had an appointment at the eye clinic as she has been having her glaucoma monitored there for the last 4 years. I also had an appointment at the ear clinic as I've had a lot of trouble with my, I thought, hearing aids. Turns out that the hard wax in my ears is what's causing me to hear whistling & shrieking when I'm wearing them & was driving me crazy!

When we finished our appointments we went to visit a lady friend who has been in hospital for at least a week.

After lunch I went out onto the balcony to do some watering; all the pots of bulbs got watered. I expect to see more Crocuses in the coming days followed by Daffs & later by Bluebells.

Lifting the modules on the old cover was getting beyond us, so it was a case of stacking them all at the end in May or June and losing the heat overnight. The new one is telescopic and motorised. Absolute bliss! :wub2:

@Upsydaisy Hope they get the issue fixed soon. We haven't know what it is like to have problems with the water supply since our children were infants - over 40 years ago!

Thanks @Balc , we've lived here for 41 years this coming June and this is the first time we've had such issues. Such a hassle!!

I honestly dont know what is going on with the water companies these last few years, there seems to be people cut off for days on end, something that was quite rare until recently even though there has been leaks everywhere for years.

I just wonder if due to all the large housing developments going on they have upped the pressure in the poor old Victorian mains.

Painting the legs of two wooden barstools. Got two coats of firy red done. One more coat to go and then I can flip them to start painting the seats. They will be employed as plant stands this summer and since they have rotating seats, I can turn the pots to showcase their "good" side without any heavy lifting. The stools were a freecycle find. :)

Raining here today, good thing, so I can feel ok with inside stuff. Some errands, then meet up at favorite lunch place with a couple friends. Food shopping. And working on gathering for taxes coming up soon.
