It was on the news this morning:
A funeral director is calling for more environmentally-friendly methods of body disposal to be legalised. Andrew Purves said traditional fire cremation used a lot of energy and that ground was becoming scarce for burials. He said people needed more choice and that alternatives like water cremation and human composting should be allowed in the UK.
The Scottish government said it wanted to allow water cremation and would be launching a consultation on the issue.
Mr Purves is director of William Purves Funeral Directors in Edinburgh, the largest independent funeral directors in Scotland.

Alkaline hydrolysis, also known as water cremation, is an alternative form of cremation that does not involve flames. It is available as a funeral choice in Canada and some parts of the U.S., but it is not yet available in the U.K. although plans for the first water cremation facility are currently under discussion.

Alkaline hydrolysis is a process that breaks down the body’s tissues, leaving the person’s bones, which are turned into a fine and very white “ash.”

Resomation, Aquamation and Bio-Cremation are brand names associated with the process, while water cremation, liquid cremation, flameless cremation and green cremation are all terms used to describe alkaline hydrolysis.

@JWK I think the highways people go round with the paint and a contractor, goes round with the buckets of tarmac and the rammer.
            Its a never ending process.

Virgin media have told me that they are increasing their prices by 17.3% on 1st April. Can anyone beat that?

Just jumping on the gravy train like all the others, nearly double the inflation rate, I think we need a system where companies have to justify, and fight, to put up prices in a similar way to how workers have to justify and fight to get a wage rise.

Got an email from British gas, it said that the price cap is going to change soon, but they will be updating me when they know more.

I'm glad its only changing, I was a bit worried that it might be rising so at least they have saved me any worry in that idea.:roflol:

I heard some rumours that we are looking at a 20% increase over the current price cap in April 2023 - 'soon' to British Gas means April. With wholesale gas prices bottoming out - we should see a reduction in bills from the July 2023 price cap. No more 67 quids per month coming in from Rishi though.

Putin must be furious - warmest Winter - his freeze Europe gambit has backfired big time. It's almost as if there has been some outside intervention.....

Its certainly not been the warmest winter I can remember, and I think we could be in for some more cold yet.

Putin has more than doubled my energy bills even with the government subsidy.
I'd be inclined to say his plan is coming together quite well.:dunno:

He has gambled on the capitalist society, with our greedy energy companies, amongst others, doing their best to make a bit of cash out of a war, and its really paid off.

I tend to think his strategy is working, in the main.

Just got the message, it states that prices are going up 17.3% in line with the retail price index inflation of 13.4% plus 3.9%???????????????

It sounds like they are putting up their prices, just because they can. Up yours mate.:frown:

I presume everyone who works for them will get the 17.4% wage rise then?
