Hi as you know we have a 6 year old male frenchie called rocco .
We now have a 6 month old female frenchie called molly ..
When trying to talk to the vet today about a dog in season we didn't get a lot of advice apart from molly will have her first season between 7 and 9 months ..

We cannot put rocco outside due to barking
We cannot put rocco in another room

We cannot put molly into cage
We cannot put molly into another room

So how do we keep them apart when molly is on her first season ?

    Any serious thought please

You didn't think it through, did you?
A bit late now, but I'd get Rocco neutered and then have Molly spayed at the time the vet suggests is best.

We took advise about rocco from schooling 4 dogs and after his operation at Xmas they agreed that taking his balls would make him more aggressive..

With molly we wanted 1 litter to remember rocco when his time cones to go to heaven we have advised vets of this fact ..

I was under the impression that castrating a dog made it less aggressive (except when it meets the vet). I had a German Shepherd bitch who was spayed. She was docile with everyone she met, except when she saw the vet. All she wanted to do was tear him to pieces!

I respectfully suggest perhaps put senior Rocco in boarding kennels if that is at all possible:smile:

I think you need to leave this kind of thing to breeders, or if you want to do it in a home environment you need to bring the Dog in from elsewhere, having the male and female living in the same house seems unfair on both dogs in my view.
Sorry, just sounds wrong to me.

We wanted a play mate for rocco ..all so at least 1 puppy from rocco and molly but not yet as molly is just 6 months

Don't understand really about bringing dog in from elsewhere ?

Had a look around net about season products like dog pants or sprays but do they work ? Has anyone tried this sort of product ?

Putting dogs in kennels we think it's unfair ..

With frenchie in general its best to have 1 of each sex as 2 males will fight

Will a friend/family not take one of the dogs temporary. Take one to work if you are still working ? Only other thing I can think of is to use a toddler fence inside the room to keep them apart .

The scent will be there and Rocco will be very upset all the time.
              You have to separate them.

                Thanks for your advice
We have no family or friend to take a dog as they have cats.
I am not working as carer for my wife
We live in ground floor flat with people upstairs.
We have got baby gate in place for feeding separately as they both go for each other food ..

Why do shops sell products that don't work ..
Molly has 2nd jab in 2 weeks with a different vet ..

A lovely thought, but could you really cope with a third dog in your situation?

It will be very difficult when she comes into season and very unfair on both dogs.....they will want to do what comes naturally. ;)
The scent will probably attract half the dogs in your neighbourhood too when she's out enjoying your garden, it certainly use to with one of our dogs!!

I agree with Vicky 3 dogs will be a handful to manage in your situation. Could you handle taking all 3 out for their daily walks..come rain and shine??

All our many pets are safely locked away in our hearts and photo collections.

You have to know when to call it a day and just concentrate on giving the pets you have now a good and as active a lifestyle as you can manage imo.
Sorry I know it's not what you wanted to hear @Gizmo .
