On the BBC - Matt has broken the cardinal rule of recording his personal views on electronic media. His WhatsApp messages have been leaked where he was derogatory to the teaching unions.

I don't think that Matt understands the rules of the game...

Oakshot knew what she was doing, I don't think any one else will ask her to help write a book.
I wonder if she is selling the messages.
I thought that it is fairly obvious that this kind of talk goes on, not heard anything surprising yet.

Good afternoon our local Asda's people are complaining that the prices on the shelves are cheaper than the actual prices that they are ringing up at the tills, most people haven't being checking their receipt:smile:

They should check it whilst at the till. That's why I now use the self scan guns at the supermarket. I check the price registered on the gun with the price on the shelf. If the shelf is a lower price then they give you the lower price. I find it happens only around once a month - but it does happen.

I check most prices when I'm buying - that's if the shelves are high enough for me to read the labels. If I don't Mr S does, he's the mathematician and worked with money all his life.

There was a time when buying the larger sizes was cheaper, but everything has to be scrutinised now to check we're not being conned. I think this crafty move by supermarkets is aimed at those shopping for families. Busy parents often don't have time to stop and check the price of everything they buy and will pick up the bulk or large items, automatically thinking they are cheaper.

I've just stopped having my regular fortnightly delivery as their online service, although efficient, doesn't show the choice the shops have. I thought they would offer a wider choice than the store.

An example was the kitchen paper yesterday. Mrs Shiney, and I, prefer the kitchen paper called Plenty (we find they are much more absorbent than the cheaper ones). Online it is £5.25 for two rolls (larger packs not offered). In store they had four rolls at £8.45 and eight rolls at £17.25 (not a big difference but the four roll pack was obviously cheaper without needing a calculator). Nevertheless a woman was picking up the eight pack until I pointed out the difference.

What's this? A Government Minister thinking ahead?

Energy firms have been asked to prepare for the energy price guarantee, which effectively caps bills at £2,500 a year, to be extended for 3 months after it expires on 1 April.

The ceiling on bills was set to rise to £3,000 a year but the Chancellor is poised to extend support in the hope that wholesale prices will sufficiently fall by Summer so that support will no longer be required.

But we still lose the £66 a month reduction so it's still going up as far as I'm concerned.

Their calculations are that with the drop in wholesale prices the cost to the Exchequer will only be 3bn instead of 18bn. :rolleyespink:
