Simon is adorable.

 

We love having him around, he has been part of the family for quite some time.

 

I am jealous ... you have such lovely and unique "pets" ... Simon, the Badger and the Skunk!

 

We are indeed fortunate to share our property with them. We have lived on it for more than fifty years but their ancestors have lived on it for untold centuries. So, we share food with them as appreciation for them sharing their environment with us.
I have a friend who says how can you tolerate skunks on your property? They are misunderstood harmless creatures that do more good than harm by eating grubs from your lawn. My particular favorite is Violet, she comes, she eats, she goes on her way. I would rather Violet than some of my human neighbors.

 

There may still be a very small population of Siberian Chipmunks here in the UK, in Berkshire. introduced to Europe as pets in the 60's. Most were eradicated as a destructive non native species. Are they thought of as destructive in the US? @hydrogardener

 

No, they are not destructive at all. I have never heard of any measures being taken to control them.

 

Most wildlife is considered destructive by someone some where, on looking it up it seems to be the burrowing that upsets people along with eating plants.
Sounds a bit like rabbits or badgers.

 

All I can say is that humans do more damage to the environment than chipmunks. He has done no damage to my property.

We have a rabbit that is not nocturnal, but comes out in the morning, sits in the same spot and seems to go into a trance for an hour or so. This has been going on for weeks.

 

Bubba showed up early last night and decided to take his marshmallow off somewhere and eat it. By the time he returned Marcell, our resident possum, had taken over the feeder. Bubba decided not to fight Marcel over food. A very wise choice, as possums have more teeth than any animal on the planet. The entire raccoon clan had to settle for leftovers last night.

Lots of frog activity this morning, first 3 dollops, (technical term), of frog spawn for this year.
They are busy guarding it and croaking away now, plus a couple of others paired up.

 

Brownsea Island Red Squirrels from today's visit.

 

Not sure what some of the frogs are up to this year as I keep finding frogspawn on the ground, its as if they are just dumping it, whether there is a shortage of males or not I dont know.
I'm guessing its unfertilised though.
