Fray Bentos is in Uruguay close to the border of Argentina - It's actually much closer to Buenos Aries (Argentina) than Montevideo (Uruguay).

They produce some of the best and tastiest beef in the world in both countries and I have had some wonderful food there.

This is part of a typical restaurant food hall with the different restaurant kitchens around the perimeter and seating in the middle and upstairs. The food was fantastic and very cheap.

        I remember that well.

Best joke to come out of that was a twist on a Shakespeare line.

To beef, or not to beef. That is the equestrian.

Some of the worse jokes from the Tesco horse meat scandal:

I've just checked the Tesco burgers in my freezer...AND THEY'RE OFF

Not entirely sure how Tesco are going to get over this hurdle.

Waitress in Tesco asked if I wanted anything on my Burger. So I had £5 each way!

I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse..... Thanks Tesco !

Anyone want a burger from Tesco? Yay or neigh?

Had some burgers from Tesco for my tea last night...I still have a bit between my teeth.

A woman has been taken into hospital after eating horse meat burgers from Tesco. Her condition is said to be stable.

Said to the missus, These Tesco burgers give me the trots....

I hear the smaller version of those Tesco burgers make great horse d'oeuvres.

These Tesco burger jokes are going on a bit....Talk about flogging a dead horse

I've just noticed that there is a strike planned by civil servants on the 15th March???
Apparently this might affect the weather forecasters at the met office, so there will possibly not be any weather that day, it will be nice to get a day with no wind no rain and I'm guessing it will be dark as well.:roflol:

Seriously, why cant all these strikers get together and all strike on the same day, at least we would know where we are, it would be like covid part 2, but we would be able to walk outside without getting arrested.

I realise people want more money but some of these wage claims are just downright stupid percentage wise.

              It infuriates me. Two reasons.

              1. If everyone got paid more, their new salary wouldn't make them any better off. It would just make everyone else worse off. Why? Because it would further push up inflation. Some will argue that the execs could just give up some of their money. In the cases of oil tycoons I get it. But the majority of execs get paid more simply because they're better than most of us at running a successful business, and take on more personal risk. I remember when covid came and we all feared losing our jobs. I was talking to our finance director, who was trying to put my mind at ease. I told her, don't worry about me, there are loads of jobs for my skills, it's you I'm worried about, how many companies will be desperate for a new finance director.

              2. Some people (eg me) get paid above average because they invested a huge amount of time, money and energy early on building up sought after skills, and then continued spending spare time, energy and money throughout their careers to stay up to date. So if someone didn't bother doing that, why should they get the same pay?

The junior docs are on strike for 3 days and want 35% rise.
They say that is how much they have lost since around 5 yrs ago with below inflation rate rises.
Now I know that is probably just a bargaining starting point, you always start at a figure higher than you expect to get. BUT........

Why did they, or their union,, let it go on this long before asking for a stupid amount in one go.

Doctors I can sympathise with. They give up so much of their early earning potential to study, and then go into a job where their mistake could cost someone's life. That's a lot of responsibility.

I get annoyed at the likes of posties and train drivers. The former, with the greatest respect, did not have to study for years to build up their skills, the latter already get paid better than most.

That's the point of strikes @pete, to cause as much disruption as possible.
