What's buzzing or flying near you 2023 ?

It seems critters can get along better than people at times Sheal.

 

I dont have a picture but I had a cat and a fox eating off the same plate the other night, not for long but they get along OK.

 

What a lovely chubby chappie.

 

The Reed Bunting has returned a few times now, he obviously seems happy away from the river.
As we are on an estate it is unusual.

 

Almost certain a Brimstone, Clouded Yellows are migrants that arrive in June

 

Resting Crow

 

Two of the White Tailed Sea Eagles form the Isle of Wight reintroduction programme, three year olds so nowhere near breeding age yet. These two have bonded and found an unused osprey platform here at Arne RSPB. I was about 200 yds from them.

 

Shelduck and Shoveler, still looking very smart.

 

No photo, but I did see a very glossy magpie hopping around picking up bits of twig from under the trees, before flying off, with a beakful, to the scrub at the back.

 

Not keen on having magpies nesting close by, they scare the smaller birds off to some extent I think.

 

The Magpies have been pulling the fibre of of the Trachycarpus for nesting material, the do it every year.

 

Probably one of the few birds strong enough to do it, I've seen blackbirds struggling with it on occasions.
