    Morning Vicky :)

Guinness :yikes:.....takes me back to the early days after having each brood member. I was advised to drink a glass everyday whilst I breastfed them.....things you endure for your little darlings!!! Yuk

Now an Irish Whiskey is a totally different matter.

We have light rain at the moment but have now decided to venture into Winchester after an early lunch and have a good browse.

Just opened up the greenhouse and removed all coverings from the seedlings. :)

I will raise my Irish Whiskey to your Grandfather this evening.:Wino:( Ok thats wine ..:roflol:) xx

Good morning all, and Happy St. Patricks Day.
Glad you liked that movie, @Upsydaisy , checked out my local cinema ---nothing appealing to me yet. Speaking of Vit. D, some years ago, my stupid PCP saw my Vit D was low in blood work decided to order me Vit D2 at 50,000 units, now, I truly was unaware that there was a Vit D2 and a Vit D3 type. (stupid me) . But anyway, I took one tablet of it on Thursday, and by Saturday morning I thought my hips had split open, the pain was horrid, I thought I broke something just sleeping in bed. Being on NO medication I looked Vit D2 up, and it tells me its man made chemical, and could cause kidney damage, well guess WHAT. I was so pissed at that PCP, not the first time he goofed, but this was the first time I went along with his orders. So I drank tons of water all weekend to dilute it out. Finally, 5 days later I felt better. 5 Days. The other incident was when I had a DexScan and he wanted to start me on Foxamax, because I was point 0001 off the norm, I told him NO. And two years ago got another DexScan for another PCP, and guess what suddenly all is perfect, nothing abnormal. I just kept him for a years to use him to write orders I would need if I got a good cold, and needed some antibiotics. Then there was another incident , Where he asked me what diagnosis any of my relatives have, ( I know he was thinking history) I responded to him---They are all dead. In stead of responding correctly to my remark he said "oh I am sorry" . It was about that time, I knew I needed to find a better PCP. So have moved on. So far my present one is decent. We shall see.

Guinness stout----awesome cake recipe to make with that, really good BTW. I like it over Ice Cream also.
Beautiful weather today, errands on list. And some garden stuff. Have a good one all.

I was prescribed Fosamax but only took it for six months and that was enough to cause me lasting side effects. I couldn't stand for the required half hour and could barely sit up and because of my issues I lay down immediately after taking it ... wrong ... and I still suffer to this day as it severely irritated my esophagus. A nasty medication indeed and should be banned!

Yes, taking that medication for "slightly" off the scale with bone mass is like taking a sledge hammer to a toothpick. I always look at my own lab results and decide for myself. I knew the side effects of Fosamax also. And the kicker, 5 years later, same test, suddenly I need nothing. Sorry for your continued pain. I always say to folks, doctors are not gods, think, do research. So much is out there. Thank goodness my recent kidney studies were within norm from that effect of Vit D2, and it was just one pill, he wanted me to take 4 of them, once a week. I 'd be dead. And then he says "no one else complains about it", I am like, its all over google the side effect, dumb mule. SMH.

On my second trip to the Oregon coastline, staying at my favorite B&B Sylvia Beach Hotel, found myself down a street having a drink at an Irish Pub. Sitting on a stool next to me was a book The bartender had no clue who the book belonged to so I secured it. Gave him my business card and told him should the owner return call me as I would be in town one more day. When I got back to my room I leafed through the pages and found a 4 leaf clover sitting there. No one called for the book. True story. Have a Happy St. Patricks Day.

Both Vit D2 and 3 can effect your Kidneys , I inherited the same kidney issues as my mum. I have taken both with no issues Vit D2 is plant based ( I think mainly from mushrooms) D3 is animal based( Lanolin from Sheep) and is more potent. I have to be careful because I have had calcification of some bones which can be painful and mistakenly thought of as Arthritis. I had to have surgery on the left side of my jaw once as it was completely solid.
Despite having Osteoporosis in my lower spine I still refuse to take Calcium meds, when I did trial them they upset my digestive system anyway.
Vit D3 suites me, I am an outdoors person as much as is possible and try to get outside every day. Ok I know it's your limbs and face that need exposure to the rays and in Winter my limbs are well covered but my face is still absorbing VitD + with additional backup from my Winter supplements too. So all is good for me. :dbgrtmb:

I wish I had been able to but I was in a bad place at the time, wheelchair/bedbound for 18 months. It was my Surgeon, a brilliant man I praise to this day, who prescribed it. He was a godsend to me. You learn by your mistakes.

Another day in Paradise here. The sun is up and we will go to at least 20c, J will water all the pots today and put the irrigation on tonight.

Sorry you have a wet day on the cards Upsy ... wish we did but nothing really forecast for the month as such!

Wishing all who visit a lovely day.

Well, today is the 18th and guess what? ... no landline/Internet!!!! J had a message this morning saying there is a big problem in this area and they are working on it and they apologise. J saw a MEO truck go up the lane in the week but has not seen signs of anyone working anywhere.

Beautiful sunshine here this morning  but a bit showery later on I think (doesn't bother me though, as long as the temperature is mild/warm)

I'm going to take all the plants I brought into the kitchen during that icy spell, back outside. I need some space.
Then I'm going to carry on re-arranging the little front bedroom, making it into a 'craft room' where I can mess about making cards, coasters, etc

Have a lovely day whatever you're doing

Hello Michael. That will be good to have a dedicated craft room. J has our guest room/office for his music venture. I have the kitchen dining table for my artwork (when I did it).

                      Enjoy your day.

                        Morning Vicky :)

Contrary to our forecast we are dry here and very sunny .:SUNsmile:

I am debating as to whether to walk up to the cemetery today to place some flowers on my parents grave ,mainly for Mum as it Mother's Day here tomorrow.

I would normally go on the day but I really would prefer not to tomorrow as no doubt our brood will be video calling. The weather is looking promising too so we may even have a BBQ. It sounds selfish I know but the walk there and back is just over 5 miles so it will take up a chunk of the day, I'm the only one who takes flowers up to them, unless ,like at Christmas, I have to nag one of my sister's to go as I was away.

I will place flowers on the grave from us all, and will sent a pic to each of my siblings. My sister here is going out for a meal at lunchtime with her family, and despite driving past the cemetery I can guarantee they won't think to stop off for a few minutes. So sad imo.

As Mum and Dad were keen gardeners ...well mostly Mum, Dad followed instructions ;)..I like to try and take them flowers from our garden if possible.:fingers crossed:

So sorry to hear about your seemingly never-ending internet issues.

Morning Michael, how lovely to have a designated craft room. I have a friend who makes stunningly beautiful greeting cards and she too has made one of their spare bedrooms into her crafting room.

We expect lots of creative pics please:biggrin:.

This morning I found two more trays of seeds that have germinated so I have just taken them out to the greenhouse. For the next week they will be coming in for the night but after that they can fend for themselves in the greenhouse.

:yahoo: We have a landline and J will contact them to say we don't want the internet as we will continue with the sim card as it is faster and more reliable. He will have to phone or go to a shop and he hates talking on the phone more than I do! Apparently they gave us another 50 Euro credit so that is 75 total.
