Its a story of a billionaire who 10 years ago wanted to destroy 1000's of acres of areas of natural beauty using green belt in fact he has spent £30,000000 on it already even when he had his planning application rejected 5 years after that he tried again and Medway Council rejected it again he just ignored these decisions and has carried on building large buildings and even larger wine Vats and this week he has appealed against the decisions once again his name is Mark Dixon he owns the Chateau de Berne vineyard in Provence which includes a five-star hotel and restaurant. The vineyard produces around 5 million bottles of wine a year, making it the second-largest producer in Provence. so what I am saying is he will get his planning permission this time:smile:

Sorry but I'm not following this, it sounds very complicated.
They want to build a visitor centre in a vineyard is that the crux of the matter, or am I missing something.

Its not a football stadium, is it?

I know these pictures they come up with are often misleading but it doesn't look too bad.

Is Access and extra traffic the biggest problem or just the building being put into the countryside.

Plans for a multi-million pound winery have been turned down. The Kentish Wine Vault – a £30 million production hub including a café, visitor centre, and car park – on land off Upper Bush in Cuxton was set to be the UK's single largest vineyard

Trust me @Victoria just add 1000's of people ,new buildings and 4 new roads and 2 flyovers and car parks cutting through the country side and leading already to the A228 which is already traffic jammed:smile:

If they were going to chuck up yet another housing estate I'd agree with you, but I'd rather see something like this than that.
We are all the same, we dont like change to familiar places, but things often do move on.

I'm guessing the loss of access for walking is not going down well, I can understand that, but ultimately I'm guessing they own the land.

            So its not happening then???

Good afternoon It will happen this time he's lined a few pockets local council and higher and its all Green belt he's wants to build on,I don't know the difference any more between Green belt/brown belt;)

The green belt is a specially designated area of countryside protected from most forms of development. It is protected to help stop urban sprawl, preserve the character of existing settlements and encourage development within existing built-up areas.:dunno:

I've noticed, around here anyway, that things are put out for locals to object, but this is just part of a process, the deal is mostly always done when it reaches this point and it will go ahead regardless of any input from residents.

On a smaller scale KCC wanted to close a road off near me and it was a 6 month trial, immediately everyone complained, but within a week of closing all new permanent signage went up.

Eventually the council had to admit it never was a 6 month trial and the road will be close permanently regardless of the consequences.

Its just not worth the public getting involved in anything, councillors and government out rank us all.

On the point about public consultation before development, years ago, a new wind farm was built just off our coast. It's close enough that it towers over the sea view. I'm sure there must have been a public consultation but I never saw anything about it.

Then a few years later, another wind farm was proposed. This time a hundred miles out to sea. The public consultation for that one was well publicised, probably because nobody would object to something they won't be able to see anyway.

I long ago reached the conclusion that while public consultations do happen when the law requires it, they do it in a way where those likely to object are unlikely to know about it.

                      You sometimes have to wonder.
I think many go in there thinking they will make a difference and change things but you cant buck a system that has run for the last thousand years.

They either fall in line or don't survive for long.
