I ordered some Sunflower hearts from Garden Wildlife Direct - they sent me a leaflet with a 20% off code for the first order.

The code is GD20PTJK-KBDF and there is free delivery for orders over £25 in value.

Their web site is www.gardenwildlifedirect.co.uk - I'm not going to be using the code and it is a one time deal. :blue thumb:

Ive just purchased a bag of kibbled peanuts from Wilko. 20 quid for 12.5 kg. A bit of variety for the birds. Wilko sell them for 20 on their web site and for 30 on Amazon.

They're the same price at B&M Clanless. Unfortunately I can't shop at Wilko, the nearest one is 100 miles away.

Wilko's website does not include delivery in the price though, where as their site on Amazon does include next day delivery in the cost. Wilko charge £7.95 for next day delivery on their website, then you have to take into account Amazon charges 18% in fee's, which explains the price difference. I have never purchased anything off Amazon, doubt I ever will.

Please remember this time of year birds will soon have nests full of chicks, so don't put out items that can be taken away whole as the parents feed the chicks and they choke to death. Peanuts, bread any think on the large side, even sunflower seeds should be in feeders with small holes so the parents have to break up the food. I have actually stopped feeding in my garden now and I will not start putting food out until around September when the first frosts are forecast.

The thing is the birds probably start nesting just that little bit earlier than they would do had you not been feeding them up until now, then you suddenly stop feeding..................

You used to be able to get crushed peanuts, but I've not seen them for a while.
might be worth putting some through a mincer.

The blackbirds and Robins are taking lots of meal worms ATM.

We feed all the year round but all food is in feeders where it can only be taken in small size. Depending on time of year it varies between 20kg-40kg a month.

Our situation may be different as we have hundreds of birds visiting every day and lots of birds that nest in the garden. Our residents include pheasants, woodpeckers, (currently a Red Kite), two crows who are now in their 17th year (used to be three of them) and we have never had less than five robin nests and numerous blackbird nests every year for the last 50 years. Even the robins eat regularly from the peanut feeder. That feeder has the weight set to only allow woodpeckers and lighter birds to eat from it.

You must have an enormous garden to support that many Robins territories, lucky you, we don't have nesting pairs in the entire village.

Chewy has a good price for suet cakes. 1.49 each. I think their seed a little high. so I use a farmers market. or feed mill.

Yes, we have a large garden - get's harder to look after every year :old: :phew:

We rarely have less than seven robin nests in the garden each year with two that are usually built outside my office window. There is always one in the ivy within 3ft of my window and another in the conifer about hedge about 7ft away.

Although robins are notoriously aggressive towards each other we don't seem to have that problem in our garden. When I'm working out there I always have at least one robin accompanying me all the time. There are quite often three or four robins on the bird feeders at the same time (all feeders are on the same candelabra pole).

We even used to have a cat that got on with the birds and they knew he was friendly to them. He used to chase the hawks away from them, kept cats away from them and all garden residents had to exist in harmony. He was the boss! The baby pheasants played with him without any problem.

People love to sit in our garden with the birds all around. :)

Thats the thing with Amazon. Im not a Prime member but in most cases still get next day delivery. I reckon they sling my stuff on the van when they are delivering to nearby Prime members. Their minimum order value has increased to 25 gbp to get free delivery though.

I can't afford to loose feed anything in the garden, otherwise I'm swarmed with pigeon varieties and herring gulls. everything is in feeders and the feeders are tied down, or else the crows fly off with the whole thing!
I think the wife got the seed and suet balls from B&M, the coconut and suet blocks from wilko
