Sowed my bush incas last week, which will spend summer being under a roof cover being non blight resistant.
The blight resistant crimson crush will go in late next week for open planting.

I bought two plants recently, Shirley and Tumbling Tom. I'm going to buy two more soon when I see them - I like Roma and I've always grown Gardener's Delight. That's all I need these days.

We used to have something called "a fair test". RE: sowing times If you sow at a particular time, in a particular way THEN sowing in a different way would have to take place at the same time surely? Depends what your testing for surely?

Agree, if you change two things you don't know which has affected the result. Trouble with experiments with plants is the weather, it varies so much from year to year. Unless you use an environmental chamber to keep temps, lights, water the same.

All I know is I'm yet to see that sudden burst of spring growth that occurs every year at some point.
Its not happening in my greenhouse as yet, I just think we are not getting any real sunny days that last, just one or two now and then and then its back to gloom.

I'm waiting on a few sunny, warm days with light breezes before I put my seedlings outside

My seedlings go outside on sunny days, natural sunlight is better than growlamps. Today they were under lamps all day.

I cant be bothered to keep moving stuff around, they go from the propagator to the greenhouse bench then the cold frame and finally planted out.

I've still got some in the propagator.

It is a faff moving them in and out, there's always the risk of damaging or dropping them too.

Yeah, I do the same. Its like musical chairs. I had all my chillis and toms out during the fine weather we just had and they've got a bit sun scorched, so I'm leaving them inside for a few days to recover. I'll normally put them out any time the temperature is above 10c in the shade and it's not raining, they warm up quite a lot more when the sun comes out

Everything here is now in the greenhouse permanently, I can't be doing with carting them in an out anymore. Most have been out there for a month, I have shading in place and keep windows and doors open......not too sure about doing so today though!!
During the recent warm days the established growers were taken outside and to enjoy the weather. :hapflowers2:

I've put my internal door on inside the greenhouse, it gives me a small 6foot square section that I heat to a minimum of 10c at this time of the year.

As our balcony is on a very windswept street I didn't want the wind blowing them out of the compost, I often get plant leaves scorched by the wind!

I had some home made Fuchsia standards on the balcony some years ago & just one day of wind killed all the branches on the outside of them so I was left with lopsided Fuchsia standards! Of course I was very upset about this at first but later it turned out to be a blessing in disguise! I turned the dead side inwards & then the good side jutted out over the balcony railings! At least there was no danger of breaking branches off when I struggled to get past them on the balcony!:)

Tomatoes seeds planted a little later than normal (I had covid )

                              Honey Moon (never grown before)

                              Sun Cherry Premium

                              Manx Marvel

Are tomato seeds getting smaller, Honey moon and Sun Cherry are so tiny ?

I find all seeds are getting smaller but probably my eyesight and dexterity going with old age. Seriously, some tomato seeds do seem to vary in size.
