It is really warm 58f 13c and apparently going up to near 80f

Yes, ladies, this time of year the sun shining in really shows what needs cleaning but my windows are going to wait. My french doors are brass beveled so I can clean each door pretty much as one sheet without all those wood mullions to get around. I also have those cupboards with the open space above and I use a couple of rolls of brown wrapping paper on the top and just switch it out each year. I use the old paper as fire starters for my outdoor wood oven. That said, I have done zero of those things yet this year. The doors are dirty, the windows are filmy, the paper needs changing and everything is, in my opinion, just plain grubby!

I got all the soil moved yesterday. I managed 2 hours of shoveling before cleaning up and preparing for the lunch and then after they left got another hour in. I've still got all the irrigation to set up and install and power lines to bury but that can wait. And I now have a good base on the old raised bed area to mix in grass seed in preparation for Saturday and Sunday's forecast rain. When I get it all done, I'll post a pic in the "what are we doing in the garden" thread. I don't know why I'm not stiff as board the way I was last week after moving the firewood. Maybe my body just gave up whining

I have more digging to do but need to get up the motivation as it is hard clay. I want to create an inlaid brick area between the two gardens at the back fence and I need to dig a deep hole for my umbrella clothes line. I won't be hanging any laundry out anytime soon as we only have today and tomorrow left for pleasant weather. So that can wait until I'm really geared up for it!

Lunch for me went well too. I barbecued burgers and served them beside salads and pickles and other "summer like" sides.

Good Morning all, Thursday, 8AM temp now almost 60, hope it stops at 70, but have not checked. Just puttering about today, getting into who knows what.
Love that cat seat up there, would be purrr fect near the area we have our fur babies buried.
Daffodils here keep blooming, have fresh late ones that open up. My Virginia blue bells are in mass and look awesome under the star magnolia. Have a good day all.

I went with J to Algoz, Silves and Lagoa for a ride out. He has now gone off to Messines for Dentist at 4 o'clock. Coincidence ... guy he who bought microphone and may buy banjo id from Wales and spent his early youth in Pontypridd ... my hometown! His step father is from The Graig (a mountain), where I was born and lived with parents and grandparents till I was 2 or 3. His step father was Tom Jones' first drummer. Nice guy, just back from there and it rained the entire seven days. They are buying house here they have rented for some years.

No plants.

 

Chipped tooth needed repairing. I don't know how it got chipped, I never eat anything hard.

It's so lovely to see the garden coming to life now isn't it Redstar, I expect all your Hostas are waking up too now, I noticed all ours are, ( not that we have anywhere near as many as you have) always a good sign of better days to come.

Sister and brother in-law are picking us up mid morning to attend our Uncle's funeral. I really feel so sad for my cousin, losing both parents within weeks of each other. He has the horrid task of closing up and selling their house and being an only child must undoubtedly make it all much harder to handle.

To add insult to injury, the weather today is as miserable as the occasion.

I really hope you all have a much nicer day instore.

 

Morning all, a pretty painting today.

Trust all goes well today Upsy and that it keeps dry.

J only had two teeth worked on and has to go back later this month, can't remember which day. Today he meets John as usual. I shall have a quiet day as I have been out six times already this month, three luncheons, a trip to the hairdresser, a trip to get my Biocard and yesterday's jaunt!

Yes, I hope the plants come today as we don't have Saturday post.

 

Sorry ladies -That is a canned picture just to show what the doors look like. My brass beveled doors are at either end of my dining room. The door openings are different sizes but I had the doors custom made so that the two bigger ones at one end have the same number of panes as the two narrower ones at the other end. Sorta keeping balance.

I'm late because I've been doing some paperwork. It is warm 57f 11c and expected to go up to 84f 26c and I'm loving it. The guessers have told us that for sure this good weather bonus will end tomorrow night so I'm making the most of it!

I'm going out back in a minute to start hacking at large roots - possibly they are coming from the neighbour's tree - to enable me to keep digging the hole for my umbrella clothes dryer base. I'm burying a 40 lb. cement block with a pipe in it to accommodate the pole. The hole, in this stupid, hard, root riddled clay needs to be 20" deep and 18"W x24"L . I figure I've got today and tomorrow to do that battle. I'll probably have to get the axe out to handle some of the job. When I get this done, I can put down the grass seed everywhere and then pray for rain

I'm going to procrastinate for an hour or so as I am very much enjoying my cuppa this morning

Good Morning all, Friday. Yes, @Upsydaisy , my hostas are coming up. Was just walking about the garden with my coffee noting that I have to get the long shears and start deadheading the spent daffodils and noting the hostas . There is a picture I took of Sum of Substance when it was just coming up, post here, love the color of it.
The birds very active this morning . Have not seen any hummingbirds yet, usually they start hitting on the Virginia blue bells , then I get out my hanging sugar jar for them. My box of the Virginia blue bells arrived well to friend in Georgia, USA.
@Upsydaisy , taking off time from work to have babies is not really "taking off time" you just shifting "jobs". Tough job raising children.
@CanadianLori , did not realize the door picture was of your doors and living room, very pretty. and brave of you to have a white sofa.
@Michael Hewett , I got a cracked tooth once due to stress driving once, clenched my teeth too much driving in high traffic area to a job, hour drive. Had to get a crown on it. So maybe there was a slight crack in your tooth, not noticed and then it chipped.
My plans today---just puttering about again. Have a grand day all.

OK, @CanadianLori not your living room or white couches.

My French doors are sliders. Just wood in color that was stained with pickling white which brings out the pink tones in the wood. They are between my dining room and the garden room. The garden room, when we bought the house was an outside deck. Husband, his brother and a friend tore it down, and built the room, and then a new deck to that. Ok, back out side, it is 81 degrees, hate it this hot.

 

I will close my theme of UK Spring Wildflowers with the Yellow Archangel, it takes over from the fading Bluebells. Part of the dead nettle family but much nicer........it doesn't sting you!!


Good morning everyone...gosh I can't believe that it's Saturday already.



It looks like we're in for a much better day today thank goodness.

My Uncle had a lovely send off with songs included from some of his favourite singers, Catherine Jenkins, Matt Monroe, Vera Lynn and lastly Frank Sinatra.

At least they are both reunited after only a short separation.

We decided to open a WhatsApp Cousin Group Chat so that all us 'youngsters' that are left can keep in touch and share our news with each other. Should be fun .

Not much doing today ,apart from some very unwelcomed laundry ....no choice but to do it at the weekend after our horrendous weather this past week.
Will also pop over to my sister's with a birthday present for her grandson ( one of my adorable great nephews)... can't believe either that the cheeky pickle is 6 yrs old!!!
