No problem buying train tickets, I buy ours via the Trainline app. Our tickets are always digital ones, so they are safely stored on my phone as are our Railcards with photographic ID's.
      Easy, peasy!!

Your journey is all planned out for you, train times, changes, which platforms, and how long you have to wait between any changes. We recently had a journey that required 3 trains each way , it went so smoothly, the longest wait inbetween trains was 2O mins...this allowed time for coffee .

Even during the strikes ( as annoying as it was) they emailed me, with the next available journey.

I can't find fault at all, these days it's nice for us not to have the hassle of driving longer distances.

Even my Hubs is beginning to enjoy our trips!!!

Do you have to pay for your railcard?

Yes, they're not free!! I forget how much , but not a lot and they last a year. Obviously it depends on how much you plan to use it as to whether it's worthwhile.

For us it most definitely is with having our brood up in the London area. One in particular as trying to find a parking space near his apartment is almost impossible!!!

Yes a railcard costs money up front for a year. It's great for families as all get a reasonable discount. You have to use it a few times to make it worthwhile.

                Sounds a good reason.

We don't have anywhere we need to go where we can't take our car.

We had a big family thing in the West End, at a hotel, last week. I organised to have five of us in the car, pay the congestion charge and pay for the hotel to valet park the car and it worked out cheaper than five of us going up by public transport. :noidea:

It's a shame that the truth may never be known. It's even more disheartening to see how much money and attention is spent on these cases when it could be used for something more productive. I think we need to focus on finding ways to ensure things like this can be prevented in the future, rather than spending years trying to get to the bottom of what happened. Let's make sure that lessons are learned, and everyone involved is held accountable for their actions. That would be a much better use of time and resources.

We have Scotrail here and every train has a conductor who comes around after each station and checks and sells tickets. Not every station has a ticket office. Those that don't have ticket machines but if you don't have a card or the correct type of money (or you are old and not up to the technology) you just buy your ticket on the train. You can even buy your ticket at your destination but how they know where you boarded is anyone's guess.

I've just looked it up out of interest, it costs £30 and you have to check locally as to what times you can use it as they vary with location.
You apparently get one third off the usual price.

Obviously not worth bothering with for one or two trips a year but I can see the advantage if you use the rail a lot.

About 10 yrs ago I had a workmate who used to go home on the train, he only went about 4 stops and rarely bought a ticket, he just used to keep moving down the train to avoid the conductor, sometimes he got caught mostly he didn't, I guess people like him put the kybosh on buying tickets on the train down here.

It's all symptomatic of cost cutting and efficiency; unfortunately it's at loggerheads with the unions so works badly at best.

I had fun on the railway today after finding out waterloo have knackered their signalling up. I walked to the station, saw the crowds and found out why, then about faced and walked home. Now I did buy my ticket online but have to figure out how to get it refunded as it reads as being very simple but they don't actually provide the alleged forms they say you should fill in. Have contacted customer services for now.

They are telling you on the TV to not go to A&E but go to a walk in treatment centre instead.

It says go to my local hospital, which I assume means A&E.
The other hospital mentioned in Sittingbourne says its closed.:dunno:
