Even though the war had been over for a few years when I was born, food rationing went on for several years. I have a ration book with my name on it.

What makes me worry a bit though is that I can remember things from many years ago vividly but I struggle to remember yesterday.

@Michael Hewett My mother had that worry for a while but I manufactured an explanation and she found it helped a lot.

I told her that the brain is like a bucket of water being filled but you stuff it full of memories instead. When it starts getting fairly full the things that had only just happened and are not particularly important can fall over the side if the bucket gets jogged a little bit. The memories that arrived earlier in life are stuck at the bottom so are still there.

For me, important things tend to be based on numbers and names start to escape me. I play bridge a lot and can remember every card in a particular hand I played a week ago (and I play about 5 or 6 times a week) but can't remember who my opponents were!

People's names are now more difficult to remember, as are plant names, but I have Mrs Shiney here who can forget other things but never forgets anything to do with plants. It's just whatever's important to you. :)

I can remember faces but not the names to go with them. I have lost the person who could.
I always have difficulty remembering numbers, even my car reg which is a nuisance in a modern car park.
What you say about memory makes sense though ...

Me too  but I didn't like to say incase people thought I'm old fashioned ... well I suppose I am. Who cares.

Us programmers had to change all the Ys to Ks. So the months of January, February and July were renamed to Januark, Februark, and Julk.

                @shiney Lewis Carol also said;):smile:

“And the moral of that is—‘Be what you would seem to be’—or, if you’d like it put more simply—‘Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.’”

I heard it said that those on 3g are mostly the ones that didn't get it.
                      I haven't got a clue what I'm on but I know its not 5g.

They keep putting up lots of masts around here that are, I think, 5g but I'm not sure I can even get 4g around here, they seem to have jumped 4g.

I thought 3G was two tin cans and a length of string.

I think I read it wrong, as usual, is there a network known as three? or 3.

Yes, but you're still right either way.

Three, as in the network, is reported to have had the biggest problems.

3g, as in the version of the underlying infrastructure and the capabilities of ancient phones, were not supported.

Did hear my phone go off n& I have all the sounds on my mobile at their highest setting for the time being as I'm as deaf as a doornail - well, at least in my left ear! Had an infection that's caused a perforation in the eardrum so will need a few weeks for it to grow back again & therefore hear properly again. The message must have entered as afterwards I saw a message asking if I wanted to receive alerts in the future.
