We haven't heard or seen any of our candidates either....we don't even know their names, so no point ticking a box a box against a completely unknown entity imo.

We've had leaflets from a grand total of two candidates. But there's a twist. They're both independent. Ok that's not a twist. But they're husband and wife, competing against eachother, with similar promises. So either way they can't win because in effect they've just divided their share of the votes in half.

I was thinking of voting independent if he appeared to be coming up with some good ideas.
Had to do a search to find out who any of them are and the indy one didn't even have an e mail adress, let alone tell you what he stood for.

Im fed up with all the party squabbling that goes on and all the people who think if the other party was in control then all the problems would just melt away.

It's the same here Pete. They're all over Facebook (lots of new councillor accounts in march!) Blaming each other. I called one out the other day saying I'd rather whoever just presented a credible plan to achieve something rather than just mock the other party. Didn't get a response

I hate the Tories, but what is the alternative? Labour is the only alternative that stands even a remote chance, but what do they even stand for? It seems on almost every issue their strategy is just to naysay everything the Tories say or do. Their one apparent area of expertise seems to be on arguing for unskilled people to get paid so much that businesses go bust.

We get them all here, pushing leaflets through letter boxes. Only one has knocked and we quickly got rid of them as we had already voted by post. I only vote for those that actually live in the ward (it's only local council elections here). That ruled out 8 of the 12 candidates for our 3 seats. The other elimination was for the nimby party who oppose any building or change whatsoever. Guildford is frozen in time, all development is opposed so house prices are rocketing and no ordinary workers can afford to live here, so teachers, police and nurses commute tremendous distances. Unfortunately the nimbys are in control at the moment.

I'm talking government now rather than local elections, but I'm yet to hear a national problem that the Labour party won't be able to solve by doing two simple thing's.

A "windfall tax" and "getting round the table ", both of those would solve everything.

Nail them down to what they would do and the reply is always, "we are to far from an election to say ".
They know what's wrong, we all know that, but they don't have any creditable ways of changing things.

Here we go again, yet another really dodgy country, (Sudan), decides to start a war, and as usual all the so called British people there are moaning that they haven't been rescued by Britain fast enough.

Why do these people get themselves in these positions and then expect bailing out by the government, I hope they are all paying their air fares.

I expect the ones that don't have British passports will be washing up on the beaches of Southern England some time soon in rubber boats.

Not really a moan as everyone needs a holiday, but ... J just went to get some potatoes from a big French supermarket in Messines (6 kms away)... and it was closed!!! He went into the town to a couple of 'Mom and Pop' stores which were also closed but that is to be expected. Good job I still have a few new potatoes. so it is that and broccoli for me for dinner.

Yes, it is a holiday here but the big stores don't close. It is an Intermarche.

My latest moan is this. When you buy a house, you get to choose your furniture. If you later stop liking your furniture you can change it. You don't buy a new house just because you don't like one of the seats.

So why then, when we buy a car, do we have to have the same seat? I like my car, but I've come to realise the driving seat is now doing me any good. No matter how I adjust it, I end up in pain after more than half an hour of driving. What an I to do? Throw the car away just because I don't like the seat? The seat is not broken. If it was, I'd replace it, with another one specific to that car, ie, the same seat.
