    Hi folks,

Novice gardener here. Recently moved into a new house and trying to maintain a creeper plant. Two questions:

    1. What is this plant? (I'm referring to the climbing plant.)

    2. Should I be manually threading new shoots in the direction I want it to climb? (I want it to keep climbing along the netting.)

Thanks very much for any answers.
    Gil

There's certainly a large rose thorn on the green stem in the second leaf picture. Aclose up of the base of the plant so we can see where the stems comes fromwould be useful.

I want the plant to grow along the horizontal netting (see image). Should I tie new shoots into the netting?

The new shoots grow upwards (obviously). Therefore, how do you train them to climb horizontally onto the netting?

Can I just say, I'm amazed at the size of the plants compared to the pots they are in.
In a dry spell, watering and feeding could be a problem.

You can tie a few upward growing shoots horizontally but be careful they might be brittle and snap, gently does it with any new growth.

                  Thanks Pete.

It's growing rather powerfully at the moment, with many new growths shooting upwards.

Is it a daft idea to try and tie them all in? Should I be pruning some of them too?
